I did it just to piss you off.........

I know what you were talking about I just wanted to bring up the fact that an FX version of Z3TA+2 would be awesome just as it was in version 1. Now with the ability to drag and reorder effects and other optimizations a version 2 FX would be even more desirable.

By offline do you mean it will be possible to install and authorize the update without installing the CCC (I think I know the answer I just want to be sure).
I believe this is the case. CC doesn't work at all for me and they said this offline option would be the way to get it registered.

I really hope that they'll leave behind this CCC thing (even if it works)
I haven't updated to z3ta v2.2 (and to Rapture pro) just because of all that!

Hi

FWIW I posted a thread yesterday at the Cakewalk forum asking if it was possible to install Cakewalk applications without the CCC application - there has been no response as yet.

I hope that the 'old fashioned' way of just inputting your serial number/code is possible as I think a lot of people just do not like these systems of authorizing a plug.

They are working on offline authorization for z3ta. Not sure about Rapture Pro.

Yes you said that before but you still haven't answered this question:

Since Cakewalk said they lost the signed hard copy of my NDA I guess I'm no longer bound by it so a quote from the new leader of the beta team:

"We are moving towards Command Center as our sole point of authorization".

Because of the CCC requirement I told them I no longer wish to be a part of the beta team. Just not worth it at this point.........

CCC is working better every day, and it is very practical in terms of installing and getting things updated (Native Instruments was the first to use this method, with their Service Center, there were quite messy versions in the beginning, but now it works like a charm. Arturia also went that path, and after the first versions issues, things are working better now).

Sonar and Rapture pro work perfectly with the new CCC. Limiter also. Rapture also. Dimension pro had some issues. Now Z3ta+ 2 also had issues. But I'm sure these will be solved in future versions. In the future, this will work transparently for everything Cakewalk, and people will forget that once this had problems... as it now happens with NI Service Center.

Just went to Cakewalk account to download update for Z3ta+ 2 that was just announced and file is dated November. I think I probably already got that one in November.

They didn't mention anything about that.

The difference being I have much more faith in the people who write the code at Native Instruments. "Future" could be a while considering how long it's taken CW to address bugs that were reported in beta years ago.......

The point is I already have NI's service center, Pace E-licenser, IK Multimedia's Manager, decided not to install Steinberg's e-licenser just for Retrologue and so on. I've decided not to install the current CCC to avoid the possibility of it messing with my current CW authorizations. I'm not upgrading Sonar any further and to be honest Z3TA+2 at it's recent beta just isn't worth the bother. Perhaps if one day they make major upgrades to Z3TA I'll change my mind.

The question is do people want to install the "Command Center" just for a single plugin like Z3TA+2 if that's all the CW software they own ? Too many alternatives like DUNE 2 that don't require installing yet another License Manager.........

If the CCC were optional so people who own a lot of CW software could use it as a convenience to keep all their software updated and those who only own a single CW plugin could use the old serial number C/P method that wouldn't be so bad.

Those license centers seem to turn into a pandemic, maybe in order to fight piracy and reselling. Still, they should come together and settle on a single standard license center, just like they all settled on the VST standard.

I got this response from Cakewalk support and it did seem to resolve the issue, for anyone trying to get it to work. Very fiddly process though I have to say, CCC should be improved, and I'm sure they will
Please follow these steps in order to authorize it:
  1. Log out of Command Center. This will clear all connection data from the settings files so they can be refreshed during the next steps.
  2. Restart your computer in order to update the settings files. On Mac OS X, these files are not always updated before a reboot. This step is very important, you must reboot your computer since Cakewalk synths will not be able to authorize if these settings files do not update!
  3. Log back in to Command Center. Like before, log in with your Cakewalk account username, enter your Mac's user account credentials and then click the OK button.
Note: do not click the Cancel button here since doing so will prevent Command Center from writing the files it needs. If you cannot click the OK button, please let me know and we can troubleshoot this problem.
  4. Leave Command Center running, open your DAW and insert your Cakewalk synth. Wait a minute or two for it to download the new authorization information.
