Eq is one area where no one needs to spend any money. Obviously not a great sentiment for those who develop eq plugins...!

Do you honestly believe that a specific eq, compressor, limiter, gate is going to make a big difference? Is one eq vastly better/worse than the next? Get the one that looks prettiest to you or has the best workflow if you must.
Maybe it wasn't clear in my posts, but that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm looking for plugins that will speed up my workflow. Not for a better sounding eq :). I'm looking only for plugins in the areas that I feel I need more. I don't have a good transparent technical compressor and I feel my EQ could get an update.

I could work like I did 20 or more years ago - recording my guitar through Metal Zone without any amp and vocals through a walkman speaker into my 8-bit sound card. But I want to update my workflow and mixing options. Not for the GAS-sake, but for the music. There is a whole spectrum between "use no gear, record black metal in the woods on a cassette recorder" and "I have to record my music through a 1 million dollar recording chain".

But as far as I understand you say that music should come first - and I agree :tu:

You're in for a treat: they ask big bucks for their verbs. Do yourself a favor and first go see the prices...

Naaah - I read the descriptions and tried 2c Audio's B2 and UVI Sparkverb before that so I know I don't need any more reverb now.

Then buy them during the sale season. Absolutely worth it. I've demo'd everything from Aether to Sparkverb to Ircam and Phoenixverb stood out in terms of sound and user interface.

Melda also has bundles with a lot bang for the buck around 300$. Also their EQ you can have for 36$ along with a couple of others.(free effect bundle wich you upgrade/unlock) I find the spectral alanysis to be the best and often need it for this feature along with harmonics removal. It's very versatile for the price it's hard to beat.

Tokyo Dawn Kotelnikov - it's free (and you could get the even more sophisticated Gentleman's Edition for 40€).

Ok - this is turning into Chinese whispers (or as we call it here "playing deadline").

Thank you guys for all your help here. :tu: :tu: :tu:
