I need a serious advice...

The point is : i have around my computer about 7 multitmbral sound modules...
...and i'd like to mix most of the individual outputs together with all the internal VSTis and audio tracks (in working actually with Logic pro on a G4)
I'd like to know if such an modular I / O interface exist, in a way that you could choose to have 48 (32 mono, 8 stereo) in and 8 out for example...and how much would it cost ?

Unable to give a serious reply as I do not have Logic. If I understand the question right, in Sonar they call it bounce to track. Alternatively, route as many tracks to as many combinations of busses as your heart desire and bounce the busses to audio.

You have to plug the outputs of those External gears to retrieved the signal...
2 possibilities :
1/ A mixing desk can send all the inputs directly in logicaudio by your soundCard.
look at the ONYX from Mackie, some have Digital outputs !
2/ you can use LogicAudio as a mixing desk by using INPUTS OBJECT.
The number of Input Objects depends of the numbers of audioInputs on your soundCard.
If you buy an 8 AnalogInputs soundCard ( RME / Motu ) you will be able to use InputsObjects.

If you want an A/D converter/soundcard that can handle 48 simultaneous input, you should forget about it. You will need a high-end gear like an RME DIGIface + 4 units of 8 channel A/D converter. This will probably cost you at least $4000.

A good Mixing desk AND a good 8 inputs Adat + Analog ( so 16) could be good too...
the limitation will be in the number of recordings at the same time , but 16 , it is not so bad !

Well, there are several options available.
1) Patch bay. Patch in what you need, when you need it into a mixer.
2) A big mixer with lots of inputs.
3) A big audio interface with lots of inputs.
Guess it really depends if you plan on ABSOLUTELY having to have all those inputs go simultaneously or not. Mixer with a patch bay would probably be the most economical. I've done the large 32 channel mixing consoles to get all my gear in before too.

Actually, you need 6 units of 8 channel A/D converter (I need to take an arithmetic class again), so it will probably cost you at lest $5500.
Whatever you're trying to do, recording synth won't need more than 8 channels...unless you have 9 other synth players in your band.
