You fooled me... I expected with a new thread it would be an actual announcement and we would get to see the GUI... I'm curious to see this one

Yes it's somewhat announced. Before Xmas. And the GUI ? In a few days. Please visit us again at that time.

Hi,

recently i got a copy of StiX for doing certain tests (and bug reports where necessary..), many thanks to Xavier and Laurent (= Lotuzia) and for that. As a long time Xils fanboi (yes i am one...) and tester for some of their products testing a drum synth from them was a kind of "must have" for me.

StiX will include two different plugins where one uses a single stereo output and another Multi plugin uses dedicated stereo outputs for all single instruments (+ additionally a master output).

For testing the Multi plugin i had created dedicated Audio tracks for all single instruments and tseted adding some external FXs to those. This does not mean the built-in FXs are bad but for this test using external FXs was necessary.

Here are 3 audio demos that are based on 3 Presets with adding external FXs to the dedicated audio tracks for used instruments (and removing teh buiölt-in FXs for that test):

StiX_Multi + FXs_Demo 01

StiX_Multi + FXs_Demo 02

StiX_Multi + FXs_Demo 03

The types of FXs incuded are a Reverb, 2 different Delays and 2 mastering FXs.

Using those effects the Presets do sound different to the original presets i had used for this (the original presets were made by Lotuzia).
Some further tweaking of those demos could be necessary but they were good enough for the tests i wanted to do and IMO they sound nice or at least how i wanted them to sound (as this of course is also a matter of taste).

StiX also sounds great when used "Dry" but using effects with drums seems to be very common and certain sounds are only possible with using effects (especially if we talk about modulation effects).

UPDATE:
The preset in the first demo tweaked to only use the built-in FXs (and the single output plugin):
StiX_built-in FXs_Demo 01

Let's hear the dry versions please, or only using StiX internal effects.

That's like selling a can of baked beans that has a spaggheti hoops label on it :hihi:

As i used multiple modulation FXs posting dry demos would not make real sense as of course without Delay and Reverb it would be be really different.
I had used the external FXs to test the Multi plugin with different effects at the additional dedicated audio tracks (those demos were created in Live 9.5 64-bit on Windows 10 64-bit).
I did not mention which external FXs i used exactly as the sense of those demos was not doing advertisement for certain effect plugins.

UPDATE:
Here are 2 audio demos, the first is the first demo i already posted above using the Multi plugin and external FXs, the second is the single output plugin using only the built-in FXs in StiX:
StiX_Multi + FXs_Demo 01

StiX_built-in FXs_Demo 01

I tweaked the FXs in the Preset for the second one to my liking but not to match it 100% to the first one.
The basic sound of the Delay and Reverb used for the first version (Multi plugin + external FXs) is different anyway.
While both versions (with external and built-in FXs) sound differently both are nice IMO. The second one sound a bit less processed. I am sure it would be also possible to improve the first one that uses external FXs and also to make it sound closer to the other one.

Well, Ingo made these demos while testing the multi outputs versions of StiX. I'll post audio demos of the same presets in native StiX when I have a bit of time. Meanwhile all the demos audio are in the second post of this thread.

+ thanks to Ingo  :tu: Good to see that StiX install and works right under Windows 10 on many hosts + the MultiOut versions are OK, so that people can process StiX drums with whatever external fx they want if desired. Multi out were really a burden to finish and took much more time than schedulled. They alone explain a good part of the delay in the release.( though to be honnest we were late on a lot of things )

Btw I finished the factory drumkits yesterday : You can change the whole drumkit playing a pattern in a flash and its nearly instantaneous. The same rythm using different drumkits : This totally change the perception of it, and open really new possibilities for each global preset ( a global preset is just all drumpads + all sequences + all patterns all macros and special modulators + the drumkit + possibly song settings + mixer settings + effects settings )

Hi Laurent,

i also added a demo where i tweaked the preset using the internal FXs of StiX. The resukt is not identical but nice IMO. Sounds a bit different to the original preset i used for tweaking ) called "120 Tribal Electro LtZ").

Besides the full presets that include drum kit, patterns etc. StiX also includes lots of presets for each of the instruments (which includes pure analog, sample based and hybrid ones). Based on those i just created my on kit and modified one the preset patterns with using additional instruments.

Here is an audio demo of that attempt to create my own kit from the instruments presets (all FXs are built-in ones, no external ones):

StiX_Electro Rock 1_Demo 1

The Bass drum is actually based on a sample, While StiX has a full featured VA synth engine the 3rd Osc (which by default is a Noise source) could also load Samples. At Osc 3 you could also import your own WAV file as a sample. Between the 2 VA Oscs 1 + 2 also FM is possible.

Both versions are equally good. Yes, tweaking the FX depends on context, people likes, etc. With the separate outputs now implemented, everyone can process StiX the way they like. Internal effects, external, a mix of both, everything that suits people likes or workflow, and lead them to their final goal is OK.

This drumkit sounds nice Ingo :tu:. And vey nice with the pattern. I'm glad you're having fun with StiX.

We have tried to make any creative task as fast, logical and intuitive as possible, it's good to see that creating new drumkits is enjoyable. I'd like to include this kits in one of the future versions, if you agree. I like it a lot.

Here's the GUI of the public beta version v0.95.

As one can see, a lot of cosmetic details need to fixed, and will be fixed quickly, like the arrows to browse the Drumpad presets in the *eazy synthesis* section , the mod1, mod 2 labels, or the disto/crush on/off diode etc. All these things should evolve very quickly now.

Still, everything works. Wich was our main concern until today.

This screenshot shows StiX with the Eazy Synthesis mode, and the MultiLine XoX sequencer combo.

The Eazy Synthesis mode is populated with Macro functions, the Step Modulators (used IN the sequencer), and the unique PolyStep modulator (TIED to the sequencer, wich is different)

MultiLine XoX sequencer (or Eazy Sequencer page) : You can see some examples of the different *steps per beats* number, and also of the Step Divisi parameter.

Some sections are always visible : Dumpads line, Mixer, effects, etc. You can switch from the Eazy Synthesis page to the Advanced Synthesis one (a full synthesizer, like promised), and from the MultiLine XoX view to a Single Line view where you can perform indepth edition of a sequencer line.

And PAST should be PASTE. There are 2 buttons where the E is missing.

As for the UI in general, i dont know why but somehow i expected something completely different. :)
