Nice. Already have Dune 2, but am seriously considering getting the original too. Just for the sake of loyalty, and GAS.core wrote:DUNE 2 (and the first DUNE) are now on sale. DUNE 2 is just $99

I bought Dune 2. I like the sound but it makes spikes in the CPU in Studio one
in Live 8 I can't see it
but it works very nice in Reaper 5
After the siesta, I'll take deeper look, but my first impression is a great synth for $99

I misunderstood the terms. Nevermind.

Just now getting into it. Just hitting the factory patches, I am loving this thing. Tweaking things seems very straight-forward for an intermediate level user like me. The XMAS patch banks included are absolutely sweet. So glad I finally bought this. It's good to be 100% stoked about something.
Just being able to choose from a good selection of basic skin colors is such a pleasing thing for me. I appreciate that little detail. The UI is big enough for me to see. Again, sweet. This will be way up on my go to list for a while. No complaints.

Good suggestion...I agree that anyone buying Dune2 should do it this way. Dune 1 is a great but quite different synth and there are many free patches for it scattered aroundpheeleep wrote:For someone that does not own Dune 1, it is more advantageous to buy Dune 1 and then upgrade to Dune 2. It's only $9 more doing it that way ($108 total), but it's well worth having Dune 1 for only $9 more. I love Dune 1. I don't have Dune 2. I wasn't going to get anything more this year, but $49 to upgrade to Dune 2 with 750 presets, the added features, etc.. makes it very hard to resist. I wonder how long the sale goes.core wrote:DUNE 2 (and the first DUNE) are now on sale. DUNE 2 is just $99

Just curious ... I stopped using Dune 1 after Dune 2 came out.

I have found the cause (or at least the solution!).HcDoom wrote:Yes, there are occasional cpu spikes in latest S1...dont know whats causing them. Anyway, one of the best synths!!!
I unchecked the "Enable Multi-Processing" in the Audio Setup and Dune 2 is playing fantastic now
[Edit] Or just set the Multithreading option to off in Global Setting in Dune 2
Great sound and there are many differences than Dune 1 (I have the Beat edition). The synthesis additions like FM and wavetables. Also the Detune section. I believe Dune 2 for me is enough, I don't need Dune 1.
The GUI colour variations is very nice indeed. All the colours are nice, but I liked the Red for now! Very well done synth that sounds great and I'm very happy to have it. The cpu (judging from the presets) is low for a modern synth. It already becomes from my favourite synths besides Razor ...etc

I', for one, think that the colors in Dune 2 are ugly ...but no negative influence in workflow, that all what counts at leastEnGee wrote:HcDoom wrote:The GUI colour variations is very nice indeed. All the colours are nice,

I wish Dune 1 would remember the banks I load, rather than loading the factory banks every time I run it.
Doesnt even remember the location, pain in the butt.

There is always the option of skins. This is a pretty nice one, compatible with 2.5: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&start=45Krakatau wrote:I', for one, think that the colors in Dune 2 are ugly ...but no negative influence in workflow, that all what counts at leastEnGee wrote:HcDoom wrote:The GUI colour variations is very nice indeed.
