Really loving this plugin, still! One additional feature that would be nice in a future update/version is a preview for the user sample dialog box, such that you can audition each sample by clicking on it before you load it (not sure that this is even possible, though).

just bought this, spent a few minutes with it so far.
- is this actually sample-based 'synthesis'? (if so, i guess that shouldn't be any surprise.) i'm really getting the feeling that there's round-robin samples being used for the base of the synthesis. hard to explain, but with Random at zero i feel like i'm hearing a handful of different samples being played back in a pseudo-random pattern. playing around with the parameters, it seems like just a snippet of a clap sample from the original being delayed by milliseconds to 'synthesize' a new clap from the sample. pitching the clap all the way down via MIDI reacts more-or-less how i'd expect a sample to. is this correct? even loading a custom sample, the 'Repetitions' parameters are doing similar things as they are to the 808/909/HC2 settings.
- another reason i'm assuming it's round-robin samples being used is that i'm hearing certain 'artifacts' being repeated on certain hits. this changes depending on the 808/909/HC2 setting, seems each group of samples has its own that sort of "sticks out". that's how i started noticing the "pattern" which sounded like a handful of samples being played back in random order.
- noticed this in the video, should have asked before... i've always 'heard' the 808 clap as being "darker/fuller/chunkier" (with a more prominent 'reverb/decay') and the 909 clap as more 'slappy/crisp/dry'. the default settings and presets seem sort of the opposite. i realize that this is more of a 'personal perception' thing, but wondering if anyone else noticed this. (i haven't compared the stock settings/presets to any actual 808/909 samples at this point, i just thought now to mention it.) anyway, i'm certainly able to dial in my "ideal" 808/909 claps with this.
- any chance of adding a Simmons Clap-Trap 'emulation'? probably some of the coolest claps i've ever heard. Digital and Analog versions, please!
- not sure what to think about the 'reverb'. could use a Tone control at least, to darken it a bit. not sure i see a reason for it?
either way, really liking what it's doing overall. spent a few comparing it to the NI Maschine 'clap (snare)' Drum Synth and it certainly gives me something new/different. i get the feeling that NI is using some sort of 're-synthesis', like you can do with Alchemy. at least that's what their Drum Synth "909" hats sound like to me.
an actual demo download would be nice though. maybe "u-he style subtle noise" every once in a while? the way this works with its randomization, people probably wouldn't be doing themselves any favors just sampling single hits from the demo. ??? i don't know...

It would require a custom browser instead of the OS file browser I'm currently using, not really ideal. With OSX you can just select the file and click the spacebar to preview it, but I'm not sure if on Windows there's something similar.cryophonik wrote:Really loving this plugin, still! Thank you!TheoM wrote:this looks lovely! Something simple and dedicated to claps! Very useful, will be buying this i think! I really like the demos too.

It's not properly sample-based. We sampled about 10 triggers for each of those machines and matched those with filtered noise, so perhaps the pattern you are hearing is those triggers that gives the "attack" of the noise. I'll check if I can remove any round robin feeling in a next update.jbuonacc wrote:just bought this, spent a few minutes with it so far.

It is indeed personal taste, and it also depends on what was used to layer the claps (mostly snares).jbuonacc wrote: - noticed this in the video, should have asked before... i've always 'heard' the 808 clap as being "darker/fuller/chunkier" (with a more prominent 'reverb/decay') and the 909 clap as more 'slappy/crisp/dry'. the default settings and presets seem sort of the opposite. i realize that this is more of a 'personal perception' thing, but wondering if anyone else noticed this. Feel free to share your patches if you find better sounding 808/909 claps
I'd love to put my hands on those, but they are pretty rare/expensive! I'll see if I can find someone willing to share those samples. I'll keep an eye on eBay as well as I'm collecting several drum machines, some are here: https://www.instagram.com/audiothing/jbuonacc wrote:- any chance of adding a Simmons Clap-Trap 'emulation'? probably some of the coolest claps i've ever heard. As said before, I'll probably make a small library of samples to go with the next update and I'll definitely use some of those machines (all analog and mostly rare).
I'll need more space to add other knobs, that's why I wanted to keep it as simple as possible (plus, I know that probably many users will use external reverbs anyway). But I've got lots of good feedback that could work for a "pro" version or version 2 with more controls. We'll see.jbuonacc wrote:- not sure what to think about the 'reverb'. could use a Tone control at least, to darken it a bit. not sure i see a reason for it?
Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! I'm happy that you like it.jbuonacc wrote:either way, really liking what it's doing overall. spent a few comparing it to the NI Maschine 'clap (snare)' Drum Synth and it certainly gives me something new/different. i get the feeling that NI is using some sort of 're-synthesis', like you can do with Alchemy. at least that's what their Drum Synth "909" hats sound like to me.
I thought about that but I still think that for such instruments it might be a bad idea. It's a though choice that also involves other variables (like piracy) but I'll keep thinking about it.jbuonacc wrote:an actual demo download would be nice though. maybe "u-he style subtle noise" every once in a while? the way this works with its randomization, people probably wouldn't be doing themselves any favors just sampling single hits from the demo. ??? i don't know...

This is infinitely preferable to a Hand Crapper plugin.

This unit is fine the way it is. What you've done is amazing. No need to revise. Put that effort into a new plug for hi-hats.
And the beat goes on...

Thank you! We've got so many suggestions for a Hi-Hat plugin that we will definitely do it next year.Mister Gibson wrote:This unit is fine the way it is. What you've done is amazing. No need to revise. Put that effort into a new plug for hi-hats.
We are also working on a a few full drum machines...so, plenty of stuff to do
