i kinda new to hole making music thing but not new to computers. and i need too know if it possible to have two soundcards in the pc. strange for me to ask this kindof question i have always been known as mr knowitallcomputerman.

currently i have a Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1 and i was thinking to upgrade to a Audity 2 ZS platinum so i can have a 24-bit/192kHz it also like to have HD EAX and all that games tech.(plus it has that useful remote control)

and i was thinking of geting a emu 1212M to record into the pc as a multitrack

we can only speculate...

and I will speculate that there are much better options out there for you in one solution, such as terratec's offerings...

and m-audio's.

You can have multiple soundcards. The most recently installed one will probably try to take over all the defaults, which is fine since your recording app won't care about the system defaults. Get your 'recording' card, install it, and then install the Audigy for your gaming needs.

Here`s one more possibility I did for myself and happy with.

Any soundcard that gives you optical in/out connectors can be used to send adat data to an adat rack mounted convertor.

Although,if the adat convertor is the master clock,your stuck with 24/48khz tops.

I bought my behringer adat convertor for just over $200usd.
The adat gives you 8 audio channels in/out.
This behringer uses the alesis DAC`s,and is about half the price of the alesis convertor.

Anyway...this is a scheme for saving money and getting alot.
