Well, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who got their Z3ta + 2 deauthorized by the update. Rapture does not even appear on my CCC. Don't think I'll have to worry about updating that one. I rarely use Z+2, but I did pay for it. It would be great if they could find it in their "What's QA?" hearts to respond to my support request. But hey, all I want to do is check it off my update list and move on.
It was AMAZING how smoothly updating the whole Fabfilter catalog went on the same night that I made this ill-fated attempt. Updating 80 or so Melda plugs takes me about 5 minutes, counting the download.

There is no question that Cakewalk is screwing up big time on their CCC rollout. I had problems with Rapture Pro when I first bought and authorized it with CCC too, though its been working fine ever since, including the recent update. I'm confident it will all get worked out in the end. Anyone relying on this software for their critical path would have a reason to be ticked off for sure...otherwise I just just be patient, they will get it sorted out.

I got a reply today (day 3). Let me tell you, the steps they want me to go through, including editing the registry, are ridiculous. To get that steaming pile of CCC fully uninstalled, I'll have to take risks that I'm not sure I want to take. I'm most certainly finished with Cakewalk. I just have to decide whether to write off Z+2 as wasted money or risk screwing up an otherwise stable machine packed with thousands of dollars worth of plugins to try and get my paid version back. The "F" word goes here.

Can you please tell us what the steps are that they gave you?
Z3ta is definitely not a waste of money. Just get past these headaches Cakewalk is imposing on you due to their lousy CCC team.

Run the Command Center uninstaller.Dewdman42 wrote:Can you please tell us what the steps are that they gave you?

This is normally done by going to Start > Control Panel and clicking on Programs and Features. Next, select Command Center and click on “Uninstall.” This will not remove any of your plug-ins, project files or audio data.
After the uninstallation completes, open the Run Prompt.
NOTE: You can open the Run Prompt by holding down the “Windows” key and pressing “R” on the keyboard.
At the Prompt, type regedit and click [OK].
Click [Yes] if asked to allow the program to make changes to your computer.
Important: When you access the Registry Editor, create a backup by going to File > Export. In the Export Registry File window that comes up, make sure “Export range” is set to “All” and that “Save as type” is set to “Registration Files (*.reg)”. It is very important to create a backup of your registry because if you accidentally delete a registry key there is no undo function. You can, however, double-click on the Registry backup you made above to re-import your registry keys if you make any mistakes. You must re-import your backup (if needed) before restarting your computer.
Delete the following Registry keys: If you do not have one of the Registry keys below, simply proceed to the next one on the list.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Command Center
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Command Center
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\Command Center
Open the Run Prompt again.
Copy and paste %appdata%\Cakewalk into the prompt and click [OK].
On Windows 8 and 7, the “AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk” folder will open.
Right-click on the Command Center folder and choose “Delete”.
Delete the contents of the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Command Center.
Note: if you are running a 32-bit operating system, the default location will be C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Command Center.
Open the Run Prompt again and type msconfig. Click [OK] and then click on the Startup tab near the top of the System Configuration window.
Click the [Disable All] button to uncheck all items listed, click [Apply] then [OK] and restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time by revisiting the System Configuration utility.
At this point you can reinstall Command Center by clicking here and downloading the latest version of the Command Center installer.

I wouldn't stress too much about that... I edit the registry on windows all the time. Just follow the instructions carefully. Their uninstaller should have done those steps, removing entries from the registry, removing folders, etc..but apparently it does not quite remove everything, so they are giving you the manual steps to absolutely completely remove all traces of CCC. This is good information to have.
A *LOT* of windows programs out there don't completely remove stuff from the windows registry, that is not unique to Cakewalk. Actually you can blame microsoft for creating the whole windows registry concept to begin with, one of the things that drove me over to OSX.
Anyway, like the instructions say, back up your registry and then carefully follow the instructions, you'll be fine.
I agree though, the CCC product is not very well engineered. You shouldn't have to do all this..

All other instructions are a pita, but they make sense. But why would you have to uncheck all startup items?!rustman wrote:Open the Run Prompt again and type msconfig. Click [OK] and then click on the Startup tab near the top of the System Configuration window.

That is one of my major concerns. I've already got my startup programs tweaked to exclude things like intrusive Apple programs and Adobe crap, etc. I will have to go through and make a list before I even do this. PITA. No excuse for not having tested CCC better before unleashing it on unsuspecting customers just so they can perform an update, the first one in years.fluffy_little_something wrote:All other instructions are a pita, but they make sense. You don't really need to uncheck anything from startup, unless it's Cakewalk related. And they don't have anything in startup, AFAIK.

I guess they were just recommending that step to eliminate any potential unforeseen problem to get it work, but I agree then that is a senseless step.

I'm having difficulty getting the CCC to connect to the Cakewalk site. Every time I try to connect I get the message
'You dont appear to have an active internet connection. Please ensure you are connected to the internet and can reach http://cakewalk.com'
I clearly have an internet connnectiion but this error keeps coming up.
I have totally uninstalled CCC and downloaded the latest 1.2.2 version and re-installed but still no joy.
I am on Win7 x64.
What am I missing.
Any suggestions??

I'd suggest that everybody wait a month or two until CW can work out the latest set of bugs introduced with this update and with The Command Center..........kzmaier wrote:Same boat...

Sorry you haven't had a great experience with the 2.2 update.
We have been working to address issues, and are about to release an update to address the persistence issues. In addition there was some support info missing that has since been added. That should help anyone with authorization issues. There have been some other fixes as well, a list will be provided with the update.
As far as Command Center, on Windows, please make sure you don't have an Internet firewall blocking it (one possible reason for no internet connection) . On Mac, we recently identified an issue resulting in invalid session errors so an update for that should be rolling out soon. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve these and provide the great experience you deserve.
Happy Holidays to you.
Best regards,
Keith Albright,
Director of Development
