My timing sucks, but I still managed an 892. My first score sucked before I realized there was a substantial delay from hitting the spacebar on my laptop and I needed to compensate.

I have a tendency to swing instead of playing straight on the grid; I've noticed that when recording drum parts. My orchestra conductor in high school was the first to point it out, 27 years ago He said being in the jazz ensemble too had ruined me. I'm starting to believe he was right.

OTOH, where other people have trouble swinging (in that jazz ensemble and in the taiko group I was in) it just sort of happens for me.

That's no excuse.. you normally swing in between the grid lines

This is one of my better score, done with my PC's keyboard (space bar or individual keys). My typical score is ~ 900. Odd thing is if you analyze my test result, I was able to hit almost perfectly 18/20 hits but the other 2 hits are relatively quite off, as if I lost my concentration for those 2 hits. Still, it's a good score.

FWIW, I started playing keyboard ~5 years ago and the guitar ~4 years ago and my timing was just average. But when ~one year ago I added E-Drums to my practice sessions, my timing got MUCH better, not just on drums but on keyboard and guitar as well This proves to me that (in my case anyway) there is a kind of "synergy" that happens when you play more than one instrument; it improves more than just the instrument you are practicing on. I would even go as far as saying that if by adding another instrument to your practices it means that you won't be able to put as much time practicing on your regular instrument, it will still produce a better result overall, because of this synergistic effect. That's why I recommend to any musician to add another instrument to their current one. Even though they'll probably never become as good on this new instrument as their current one, in the end it will be worth their while. Of course YMMV
