as an automation freak i go with my first request!
can we automate all synthesis parameters via VST parameter automation?
seems that the automatable parameter are not named still...
(being an owner of other great XILS stuff i must say that VST automation covering is often incomplete...it's a little sad 'cuase such good synthesis engine give my automation dreams a lot of stimulation :-) )
Glad the form works ok now. The correct link was forgotten :dog:

Automation can be performed at several levels in StiX.

There's the sequencer of course, but you can also assign midi Cc to every StiX parameter. As there are so many parameters to automate in StiX with the 10 complete synthesizers, This automation is channellised : If you assign Cc 21 to cut-off for example, it will control the Kick cut-off on Channel1, Snare CutOff on channel 2 aso. Then all these assignations are automatically saved in a map file, and you can control everething with any knoby or slidery midi device ( I use a Novation KB for that ) I did not push the automation too far, so I dont know if automating dozens of parameters simultaneously can lead to some glitchy things for example.

For VST automation, ie I suppose you refer to parameters beeing exposed to the host, I did not test it yet but will do so ( I dont employ this method because certain hosts are limited to a certain number of parameters iirc). If we can make things more clear, we'll do it.

Hope it answers your question.
Thanks Lotuzia, the fact is that MidiCC are poor in resolution. VST automation has a 32 bit resolution and VST3 (if XILS will adopt it) ha sample precision automation. For my kind of workflow these are crucial features. All modern DAWs AFAIK support VST automation well enought. Reaper, Ableton Live, Max/MSP, Usine (may main hosts) are just perfect.

I love the idea in my first beta test to split the pattern in more, not like 4 4 4 4 but example in 4 8 4 8 or so.
Very deep drum machine.

The screenshot is done from the biggest GUI size with a width of 1400 pixels. So to see the full size you have to open it in a new browser window (e.g. by clicking at the Dropbox link above the image).

That page incudes the complete synthesis engine for the currently selected instrument.

You could load samples or import your own ones when you click at the drop-down menu below the TUNE knob of Osc 3 (by default it is set to "Noise"). Osc 3 is labeled "NOISE SAMPLE" and could either be a Noise source or play a Sample.

Osc 1 + 2 are virtual analog. If you click on the "Osc 1" or "Oscs 2" buttons those will change to "Sine 1" or "Sine 2". That way you could use a dedicated Sine that is not included with the continuous waveform knob when switched to "Osc 1" and "Osc 2". The waveforms ould be then modulated by the LFOs or by Oac 2 using the mod matrix. The Mod matrix also offers FM of Osc 2 and Osc 1 and Filter FM.

FWIW the free space below the mixer is filled with additional buttons when using the "StiX Multi" plugin that uses multiple audio outputs (10 stereo outputs for each instrument + 2 more for Master and FXs).
Thanks for the screenshot Ingo :tu:

The Advanced Synthesis page looks better atm than the EZ one for sure. Yes there are three sizes for the GUI, to hopefully cover all needs.

The Macro Mods Knobs at the right are the ones replicated in the EZ page to sculpt a drumsound quickly. You can program your own macros of course, or edit the settings of the presets. You can do FM in the Macro Matrix- some FM connections are only possible in this Matrix -, and connect crazy nodes, like modulating an LFO speed or an envelope segment with the output of an oscillator or a sample.

The red/green diodes in the different matrixes indicate positive or negative modulations (So each modulation is signed) A grey Diode means neutral/No modulation. Cliking on a diode repeatedly will cycle between these 3 states.

Ok I can see the picture better now thanks. ( Wasn't Live limited to 100 parameters iirc ? )

Anyway, please feel free to adress a request to Xils explaining -more/less- in details what you would want regarding all this in it. I think some Xils synths are in VST3 format - not sure though- If it's just naming parameters, it should be feasable I think.

Not sure if you just checked the full presets (those taht include both the kit and patterns) or if you also checked the presets for the BD instrument (= Kick). At the Easy page for the BD theer is a dropdown menu with a lot of Kick drum presets and same for the other instruments.
The samples include a bunch of Bass drum samples so you could try to laod those in Osc 3.
It is also possible to tweak existing Bass Drum presets by e.g. adding filter Drive and/or adding Distortion.

Last but not least you could also create your own Kick drum patch from scratch. StiX is a full featured synth with VA OScs and sample import support so alot of things are possible compared to as "simple" preset based drum plugin.

This is the public Beta and hopefully the final version will include many more presets then. I will do my best to do some too until then.

Thanks miller Sam :)

You can also specify Divisi for each step, whatever the number of steps you have defined for a given beat of the bar.

So, for example, you can have pentolets of triplets ( step pet beat = 3 & divisi = 5) , or triplets of sextolets ( Step per beat = 6 then divisi = 3) for a beat of a bar, and something completely different for the next beat of the bar. You can really do some crazy metrics with StiX.

Then dont forget you can also change the number of beats ... per bar.

Edited; in lieu of the previous post, here's a wee anecdote that's totally off-topic:

I told my 3-year-old son that Christmas is tomorrow. His reply was:

"Is tomorrow today?"

Horrible at making kicks? What the heck have you been using up until now? Personally the only plugin I've used with kicks as good as this is Drumspillage 2.

not seeing a working link on the DL page for the feature-limited Windows version. says "version 1.0.0" and is not clickable, Mac/Universal is showing a "version 0.0.9" with working link.

any ideas? don't really need the time-limited demo at this point.

Just created a new fat Kick drum sound based on teh "BD Init" preset (included with the single instrument presets) in around 10-15 minutes.

Besides that there are already a lot of Kick Drum presets included with those single Instruments (opposing to the Kist and full presets that only contain a small selection of the single instrument presets). Using those single Instrument presets you could easily create your own kit and then modify the instruments where need and/or create your own from scratch.

The single instrument sounds for each of the 10 instruments could be loaded at the "Preset Drum" dop-down manu at the Esay page of each instrument. Currently this selection does not seem to be available from the advanced edit page that includes all synth engine parameters.

Yeah sorry guy's I was just utterly disappointed and was a way to harsh in my reactions due to having spent way to much on software already this month, but I must say for my music style this was not working out and I freaked out and I apologize about that.
Xils we're cool and refunded me, it's my mistake I really should have checked out the demo first. Please find it in your heart to delete or edit those posts your quoting me where I'm loosing it :D
I have Tremor, Heartbeat and Microtonic plus a lot of Reaktor ensemble's for drums so I don't even know why I jumped on this lol...

That's a really cool reaction, will delete immediately!

Hey, I know about these impulse buys... I guess anyone does. We've all been there.

Cool of Xils to issue a refund, in any case.
