This is not how I want to see it: I want to know more about a certain feature on a synth (the density knob on the Spire synth in this case). So I dig into the manual, and what does it says:

"... detune the voices in an irregular way; experiment with it ..."

Great. So, the question is: how does the density button at the unison section work?
This is what the manual says:

"Density – this is a unique parameter. This allows you to detune the voices in an irregular way; experiment with it to achieve unique unison sounds. "

i've been using spire since it first arrived, and love it. but...they need to fix 1.1. some sounds in bank 6 don't make a sound in logic X...and the plugin crashes logic regularly. i hope they fix it soon...

If you check with a spectrum analyser what Density does you will understand why they did not describe it in more depth in the manual.

If you want to find out for yourself follow these steps (the principle works with other synths as well):

Put your favorite spectrum analyser on the master channel or on the channel of the Spire plugin.
Set the "wt mix" to the rightmost position so the wave becomes a sine.
Set "detune" to the rightmost position. We do this so the frequency peaks become more distiguishable from each other in the spectrum.
Set "unison mode" to seven voices (or how many you want to analyze).
Play a note and change the "density" parameter while looking at the spectrum analyser.

Unfortunately, most positions result in pushing the unison groups away from the center fundamental frequency which in my opinion does not sound so well. You get the best results with the "density" knob at the center position or at the rightmost position.

nice! just downloaded 1.1.1, will check it out today...

EDIT: sigh, 1.1.1, buggy as hell (in logic X). some sounds don't play at all, and just 'glitched out'...

1.1.1 still buggy. Downloaded the demo, almost purchased a license but then crashed FL Studio 12.2, so..I uninstalled the demo inmediately.

Why you come to tell people here instead of contacting Reveal-Sound, or ask people here, and try to fix the problem is beyond me. It's working here in 3 different hosts without crashing btw, go figure.

You can even ask on FB btw, they usually answer there even.

1.1.1 Buggy in Logic and MuLab as well (see fisherking post above, and below for mulab..). Support from Reveal Sound is below average. Maybe some people in KVR having the same issues. Also, sometimes the devs come here, just as they came announcing the release of version 1.1.1...so..why not? Maybe I'll find some answers.

If you say so. I got an answer to my support mail within a few days, and people also get replies on FB.

Sounded like you just needed to vent here. If you want to solve your problem, or get support, there are ways.

Btw, the posts about Logic above are on version 1.1.0, not on version 1.1.1.

Dont want to join discussion and dont have time to ask support at the moment (its family time of the year in case anybody in here is aware of....) but I am happy to have someone else with same problem cause update actually crashes mulab 64 bit on win 64 bit EVRY time I try to load spire and I would agree to call that buggy if it is not even loading.....

Will try with Tracktion now and then just let go for the moment.....

EDIT: Tracktion 64 bit seems too work (at least loading, no time for intense trying at the moment), Mulab still crashes evry time (before you ask: yes, it HAS worked in the old version before updating in Mulab)

EDIT2: Crashes Mixcraft 7 too, so 2 out of 3 this IS buggy.....
