Windows demo installer is up now. both that and the Mac links say "version 0.0.9", but "V100" when you download.
is that right? either way, thanks for getting it sorted! will check it out later today.

I've compiled some of the *Single Drumpad* audio demos in one longer clip.
StiX Single Drumpad Demo A
What you hear in a Single Drumpad demo is just ONE line of StiX sequencer, playing ONE drum sound, and cycling on ONE bar.
(For the record the first example in this clip was created in 7 mouse clicks, including loading the drumsound, and writing the sequence ! That's how fast StiX can be in the workflow.)

Just had a quick play with the demo, tons of features and looks and sounds good. I will keep an eye on its development, but I already have Tremor which seems very similar...anyone outline the differences between these two?
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

But Tremor was always a huge CPU hog for me, more than I found acceptable for such a plugin, but then so is Etch.

Error on the price set. Stix in Beta is 95€/approx 99$, and not 99€ as you paid.VariKusBrainZ wrote:My heart sank when I received a refund this morning and then relief it was for 4 Euros.

A few more chocolates for Xmas ? Cheers.

I'll let other people elaborate on these differences in the first place, then complete if needed. I just studied Tremor manual for a few minutes, and undoubtly, differences there are. They sound different too ( overall, first impression when I listened to all demos on Fxpansion site )VariKusBrainZ wrote:Haven't tried StiX yet, bought blind!!!!!SLiC wrote:Just had a quick play with the demo, tons of features and looks and sounds good. CPU : StiX is *rather* cpu friendly. If you have a *modern* computer, it should not be a problem I think. On my systems it takes around the same cpu than a comparable Xils-Lab synth with 6/8 voices chord polyphony for *crowded* sequences. I've never tried Tremor, so I cant strictly compare them CPU wise.

If I remember right Xils give you two activations per license, right?

can the steps be de/activated by midi ?
if not - chalk this up as a fail.
if so - you should be sure to highlight this fact when listing features.
so tired of vst drum machines making this mistake. the reasons as to why this should be possible should be obvious, or you shouldn't be designing drum machines.

With Elicencer or Ilok you can insall it on as many computers as you want, provided that you have the hw dongle with you. With Soft Ilok, I think you can transfer the licence from one computer to another one iirc. Xils-Lab follows the genaral rules/guidelines of Ilok and eLicencer for all this afaik.stardustmedia wrote:Thx for the info. Yes adding variations when looping with a single pattern might be the obvious reason. Or one of them. This feature was present in an old Yamaha unit.( with a complicated way to operate it, and it was only deactivate irrc, and not activating empty steps -not sure of that but ...- )Daags wrote:can the steps be de/activated by midi ?

With Stix you can mute/unmute drumpads ( ie drumsounds) by playing live on octave c3 of your midi keyboard/device. Seems much more handy than deactivating steps, as you can deactivate a step, or the whole sequencer line, or part of it. And build complete intro/outro effortless from a single, admitedly busy, pattern. Just mute/unmute sequencer lines in a progressive way with a few keystrokes, and iyour intro/outro is done. Or your break/fill/whatever.
You can also play the drums live with the sequencer using octave C1. It might be faster than adding a step.
And chain patterns live with octave c2, and therefore record entire arrangements in your daw in a flash. Especially if you can combine this with StiX other live control possibilities.
These are not strictly similar things though, Mute/unmute combined with Play Drums live can do things that de/activating can't do, in a fast and intuitive way, its also -imho- much more powerfull, but the opposite is also true : De/activating steps could give different results -in a few cases-
Well, this is the way/design I choose for StiX. Whatever you will think of it if you try it, a lot of thought have been put into the making of StiX. It's the Drum Machine I have always wanted for myself.
