The flip side is that while Patchwork may be in need of some workflow improvements: at least it works.

Yeah, I can't see myself buying it. Even scanning new plugins is not very fast. It's a nice concept, but again doesn't fit my need.

I need to spend some more time with the PatchWork Demo and the Magma demo.

Or... Maybe I'll just wait until what I want actually comes out. Tough call (at this point).

Patchwork could use some improvements, but BlueCatAudio is a VERY good company that writes very solid software. I use Patchwork all the time. Personally I'm glad its not a modular setup like Plogue and Metaplugin and others. Its clean and simple and works well. Another feature it has that is very cool is it can map midi messages to plugin effect parameters. So if you're using a plugin that doesn't support midi automation, patchwork will let you automate it.

PatchWork CPU spikes?

I tried using PatchWork with SoundToys Decapitator and ended up with some showstopping CPU spikes. Not cool... This was with the VST version (Mac) and using VST of SoundToys.

Magma is looking more and more like my choice, but it doesn't do AU plugins. That sucks because I can't use the lovely GoodHertz plugins in this.

Anyway, I still need to check out metaplugin. Just need more time.

TheoM wrote:really? magma crashes crazy to me.

have never seen spikes in patchworx.. must be just a soundtoys thing? the soundtoys plugin using as native au's incredibly buggy here on their own anyway.
This is actually refreshing to hear... What pushed me to begin the search was crashes using AU of Soundtoys in Kore 2. Loading them equals instant crash of Kore 2, and then then host (in this case, Live).

Now I haven't experienced any crashes with the AU version loaded directly in Live.

With magma crashing... is there anything in particular you were doing when it crashed? I ask because I still get crashes with Magnetic II and Echoes... so much so, that I stopped using them (and yes I did contact support). It's hard to jump on software when the old ones are still not fixed!

so far, I have only good things to say about Nyrv agent. Great plugin, and the developer(s) seem really solid. Just bought it on sale :tu:

Hi All,

For those of you who have been having difficulty with our scanner I apologize for the inconvenience. we are looking at some options to improve that process.

Last night we did update AGENT to v1.3 Lots of new features and improved stability. Also comes with a new demo period.

We have implemented full parallel processing in this version and it is of course a free update to registered users.

If you have any difficulty please feel free to PM me directly and Ill do what I can to help.

Thanks

Jeff

Very nice... Considering the preceding posts above (for another company), continued support is a very nice thing indeed.

How much longer on the sale price? I probably won't get a chance to check out the demo for a few days (due to holidays and family), and I'd really like to give this another shot. I did get past the prior scanner (painfully) but would love to see the improvement here (and I'm sure you'd love to see the other potential customers that abandoned scans midway give it another go too).

The biggest issue for me was the lack of parallel processing (now fixed). I of course would love for even more channels, but a simple set of chains arranged in parallel is my most common need from a device like this.

Does this have a built-in LFO module, or if not, are there any plans to add?

Hi Jeff,

Has Agent CM been updated, too? Carlos told me a couple of weeks ago that you were porting fixes to CM and should hopefully release an update the following week (i.e., last week).

Thanks!

elxsound,

Price will be good through January 16 for sure. Scanner is definitely the big weakspot in AGENT and I personally hate it because it gives people a bad taste when they first try it. but once you get through the program is really strong and you only have to do it once. I am planning to develop a new scanner for our next big release which I hope to have out by early summer. this will be another free update and we are already working on it.

bharris22,

Yes we will be porting the fixes over to CM but not the features. this release took a little longer than expected and we are backed up against some other deadlines now so I can't commit to an exact date that CM will be updated. I do promise it will happen though.

thanks

Jeff
