...But, Rapture Session is recently showing in my CCC for SPlat, which supposedly contains about 4 GB of Rapture Pro sounds. I haven't loaded it yet, so can't speak to any limitations.

From this:
https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions#ins
chart I read that Rapture full version and Dimension Pro is included.
Rapture Pro is something different including access to both - so why not include Rapture Pro which is a combined interface to both - is a mystery.
Rapture Session is on my account for free, whatever that is - even having Sonar Artist only.
If that is downsized version Rapture Pro maybe - but if I can access my Dimension Pro with it's programs I bought ages ago or not is unclear.

Rapture Session is to Rapture Pro what Halion Sonic is to Halion.
Rapture came bundled with previous versions of Sonar.
Rapture Pro is the updated version of Rapture (and not currently bundled with Sonar).
Rapture Session has been bundled in the past two updates for Sonar Platinum.
Both Rapture Pro and Rapture Session can be purchased individually from the CW shop.
Hope I didn't confuse things further.

Rapture Session is OK for a freebie actually - it's basically a little like synthmaster player (only gives you a few tweakable controls for each patch) but if you just want to grab some OK patches to sketch out a track with it's ok (as it has both synth type sounds and 4GB of samples, so it has some acceptable sounding pianos for example).
At least it's a usable new instrument (I have the full Dim Pro and Rapture but have long since stopped using them).

I'll recap here:
We have four options - Rapture 1.2.2, Dimension Pro 1.5 (legacy versions) and Rapture Pro and Rapture Session (based on Rapture Pro with hand picked library and minus the deeper editing tools)
SONAR Platinum includes Rapture 1.2.2, Dimension Pro 1.5 and Rapture Session
SONAR Professional includes Rapture Session
SONAR Artist includes Rapture Session
Rapture Pro is available as a separate purchase and all SONAR customers above can upgrade for $49 through the end of the year.

Wish that upgrade price was still available...Lifetime upgrade SPLAT owner here, and Sonar wants $149 for Rapture Pro.

The upgrade pricing on their site only shows up in the cart. If you click Buy Now to view it in the cart it should still show up as $75. Does for me at least.HoosierGuy wrote:Wish that upgrade price was still available...Lifetime upgrade SPLAT owner here, and Sonar wants $149 for Rapture Pro.

Kind of frustrating. They never sent out any notice about the upgrade sale, at least to me, and I've been a customer for years and years. I might have bought it for $49. Oh well!

They found some issues with the newsletter when the sale first started and many of us had to sign up again for it. None the less, the sale has been going on for like 6 months and has been the topic of many discussions. Not sure how you could have missed it.deastman wrote:Kind of frustrating. It's been mentioned quite a few times on this forum.whyterabbyt wrote:well, I cant see 'many discussions' of it here over the last 6 months. and by 'many' i mean 'any'.Mystic wrote: None the less, the sale has been going on for like 6 months and has been the topic of many discussions. Beyond that, some KVR members are vehemently anti-Sonar for whatever reasons they have so it gets bashed a lot. This is not the place I'd be visiting if you want to stay up to date on it though Cakewalk is active here as well.

All these mentions on the forum seem to have passed me by as well, which is odd as I always keep an eye out for anything Cakewalk related.whyterabbyt wrote:like where?Mystic wrote:It's been mentioned quite a few times on this forum.whyterabbyt wrote:well, I cant see 'many discussions' of it here over the last 6 months. and by 'many' i mean 'any'.Mystic wrote: None the less, the sale has been going on for like 6 months and has been the topic of many discussions.
