I've just had an idea about something that I imagine would be immensely useful, and I'm not sure if it's possible, or something (a top trick!) that some of y'all might already do.

Right now, with samples and even recorded sections, I'm just copying and pasting. Reaper (or any DAW) tells me the selection length, in time and perhaps as a quantity (# or bars, beats).

If I've got a bass part, and x variations (bass1-4, all 4 bars), I might want bass1 x 4, bass2x 4, bass 3x 4, bass4x4...

Is there anything available to lets you enter the COUNT (ie 4 in above example) ?

thanks, hope that makes sense!

In Logic, when you have a region selected, you can choose "Repeat" or "Repeat Multiple" and it adds copies of the region. I'd think this could be done in many DAWs...even if it is a "Paste Multiple" option.

Looping the region is another option.

seems so obvious now - thanks

searching cockos forum (reaper support) hints at reamenus providing this feature.

I'm OCD, so I wanna learn reaper outofthebox before I start rewiring, adding v-midi, sws extensions, and reamenus... but for now I'm guessing it's straightforward, will confirm with screengifproof when I learn that trick

New toys, new ideas, new tricks and lists.... merry xmas everyone!
