Oh nice. I was preparing to buy it (waiting for some ebay payments to happen... what's up with people who bid on things they don't have the money to pay for?) but I wouldn't mind winning it.Numanoid wrote:Indepth review by Sendy, and one copy up for grabs at BPB:

CM shower it with accolades: Innovation Award and Performance Award, and 10/10 rating
Can we hope for an obsCuriuM version soon?

Glad I downloaded the demo first this is one cool idea but is just not really working out imo.

finally picked this up on Black Friday, spent some time with it around then but haven't gotten back to it. wasn't sure what to think at first, but it's definitely a seriously interesting tool. the internal synth is pretty lame.
i'm not sure exactly what causes it, but it's really glitchy with certain VSTs. for example, when using the Roland SH-2 plug-in and randomizing the selected parameters the GUI absolutely freaks out, blacks out, etc... totally weird, i don't know what it's sending out to the SH-2 that would make it do this. i think similar things had happened with other VSTs, but specifically remember the problems with the SH-2. didn't try too many others.
also, i wish you could exclude certain VSTs from the plug-in list. there's so much stuff that i would never use with this.

Can you send ccs to an external synth (if so how?) or is it just pitch, arp and chord? Wasn't quite clear in the manual. Cheers!

The standalone has a midi out but not sure if that is just note information or also cc.musikmachine wrote:Can you send ccs to an external synth (if so how?)

There is a way - create a folder of symbolic links to the plugins you want to load and point it to that instead of your main plugin folder (removing any symlink extensions from the filenames first).jbuonacc wrote:f

Thanks. Seems to be just note info, i tried mapping something to analog in Live in midi and map mode but nothing worked but then it is a little obscure to me.aMUSEd wrote:The standalone has a midi out but not sure if that is just note information or also cc.musikmachine wrote:Can you send ccs to an external synth (if so how?)

You could probably remap them in Plogue Bidule.

I am still debating whether to get Obscurium and a second VST.
The 2/$99 sale ends Sunday night?
I will likely not use the built-in synth.
I will likely use Iris, FM8 or Massive etc.
Are there Presets or templates for when using popular
VST's. Or is this not important as it is so easy
to set up a VSTi that Obscurium will host.
Obscurium looks very interesting but also
very complicated.

it's pretty easy to set up with whatever. not sure about any 'templates/presets', not sure i see a need for it. assigning parameters is as simple as MIDI Learn on any VST.
i'm not usually intimidated by synths, etc but Obscurium had me scratching my head most of the time. haven't touched the manual yet though. still, i was able to get some interesting stuff out of it and the morphing features are pretty wild.
do see my comments above about my experience with Random parameter mapping though.

thank you. is it less of a pain in the balls to set up than it looks like? i'll have to look into it a bit more.aMUSEd wrote:There is a way - create a folder of symbolic links to the plugins you want ...

I liked the idea of this when I first heard of it but on trying the demo and the included presets it's really not for me. Very few are to my taste.
Setting up your own instruments in doesn't seem all that worth it as it takes so long IME. I feel I can get much better for my tastes from Omnisphere 2 layered up.
I think it's a very innovative plugin that I'm sure some people will love, but it's just too much for me and I just can't get on with setting it up.
