I know it would never happen, but if Apple decided to make some more money and make Logic Pro X for Windows, I'd be the first inline to buy it.

I don't have a Mac, but it looks so elegant in every screenshot I seen for it. Just can't justify paying $2k for a new setup.

Get a used Mac laptop or Mac Mini.

eh.. slick guis are for nerds. Like people who have to have gold plated guitar tuners. It makes no difference.

I'd try presonus studio one as an alternative. I like it better than Logic.

don't do the whole switch to mac so you can use logic thing. it's pretty ridiculous IMO. why pay so much more for a product that will be obsolete in 5 years?

edit... and by product I mean the computer not the program.

The GUI isn't the most important thing but it really does make a difference especially if it's something your gonna be staring at it for 4-7 hours a day.

Your right I wouldn't recommend switching to mac just to use Logic but if you already have a mac Logic is definitely the best bang for buck around. Even if it was still selling at Regular DAW prices (£350 - £600) it's one of the best & definitely be worth a serious look. Excellent midi editor (much better than Studio One but a bit behind Cubase) & some of the best FX & instrument plugins of any DAW. Also if your on a mac it's IMO much more stable, less prone to crashing than most of the others too.

Oh & the GUI doesn't look like it was drawn by a bunch of kindergarten kids with pastel crayons

I also like EnergyXT visually. It's so minimal that I feel relaxed working in it.
Reaper can be made to look nice, but it takes some effort to get it that way.
And there's so many options that it starts to stress me out sometimes.
FL Studio has too much eye candy for my tastes even though the default background and layout is kind of boring.

Any that let's me zoom in the current functionality I'm working on - so many functions are a distraction from what the most attention, overall or for the moment, should be spent on - which is my goal for chordwarepa.

Overall its chord placement, being a child of the 70's I suppose.

Bitwig for me. Logic is up there as well. My progression of DAWs (after Reason) was Logic -> Ableton -> Bitwig. After using these for a decade, any other DAW just look too busy with tiny buttons and controls.

Whereas, I prefer eye-candy and lots of buttons and pots, which is why I liked some of the Reaper themes.

It's interesting that the GUI I like the least is in the host I prefer the most.

Probably Logic 8/9 - couldn't believe what a 'downgraded' change they made with X. It went from looking very smart and elegant to tonka toy.

I think if I have a > 27" monitor, I can give some love to Sonar. However, Sonar just collecting dust as everything displayed in my 24" monitor is a bit "Big" like I am using a 1024 x 768 screen.

I use the three too; I like Live's new update, and I like the darker GUI Logic sports. Clearly, that thought is not Universal, but similar to Serum & Maschine to me.

Bitwig is a Hybrid of the two IMO. I like it.
