I've now woken up and it's not a dream.
Still trying to comprehend it really.

"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I saw them live 1979 on their Bomber Tour. It was my first rockconcert and I was 13 years old.
It was in the Gustav-Siegle-Haus in Stuttgart, Germany, which is an old house for about 500 people where there were mainly classical concerts. AC/DC played there too around the same time.
I went with a friend and we were scared what to expect of the <loudest rockband on earth>.
The opening band wasn`t too loud so I went back to the mixer and saw the Mastervolumeslider was just 1/3 open.
The mixingboard was standing on a large table and when the opening sirens of the Motörheadshow started I saw the mixerman putting the volumeslider to full and then there was a loud crash and the table broke and the mixingboard slid down, so it took another 20 minutes to rebuild everything.
And man, it was loud. I had earplugs but me and a lot of the Fans went outside several times during the show.
My friend stayed inside all the time and put his head into the basswoovers without earplugs, so when we went home with the Streettrain, all the people were looking at us, because we were talking real loud.
We just couldn`t hear and we both had a tinnitus for several days.
The newspaper wrote the next day: A few decibel more and the roof would have come down.
I always loved Lemmy`s interviews, he had a great sense of humor.

I still remember when kid (about 11 or something) one day I got into a record shop with my ol'dad and got 3 vinyls:
Moldau by Smetana, Bomber by Motorhead and Bolero/La Valse by Ravel.
In a way or another all 3 influenced my taste a lot at the time.
Very sad news, and I just watch few days ago a documentary about Motorhead...

I was never a fan of the music, but how many guys do you know can go just by their first name?
Lemmy was a legend, and certainly one who lived by his own terms.
RIP

A Mighty One has passed. He deserves a State Funeral. Military flyover, the works. Posthumous knighthood, Sir Lemmy of Loud etc. Thanks for all you were
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

All those years singing 'Eight of Spades' without anyone noticing ...
The fifth and final 'R-a-m-o-n-e' has passed.

None of the really dumb people I knew when I was young are young any more.

Consciously, while in a semi comotosed space, yep I'm with you there ...although I am sure I was listen to Motorhead as a knee high nipper in the 70's! RIP legend!seismic1 wrote:Silver Machine was probably my first exposure to Lemmy. I lost track of him after that until the appearance on The Young Ones. Ace of Spades was an all-time classic. 2:49 of raw power with no fluff.
