Hi guys
Just thinking of upgrading my 'general' computer to a more reliable 'music' computer. Looking at a budget type system (£800.00 'ish) from either Phil Rees or Carillon and wondered if anybody has any experience of these companies?
Any good or bad feedback is welcome

Nope but I considered them when I was looking recently. I didn't really see them as a "budget" option though - in the end I went for Inta-Audio who seem very responsive and good vfm.

Hi

I have had a carillon for almost 2 years now and am very happy with it, it is stable, quiet and a solid old lump of metal.

So the pro's ... solid build, VERY quiet, comes with a MASSIVE multi gig sample/loop library, supported by specialist's and configured especially for music.

Con's ... Carillon can be a bit on the expensive side when it comes to upgrading - which beleive me you will want/need to do within 2 years of buying any computer!
The solid build = a big old heavy albeit quiet case!

But on the whole this is a good purchase - particularly if you run software that Carillon currently sell/run on their machines - they will install and configure your software as well.

Go BUY!!!

I've had first hand experience with Carillon as I own a Carillon AC-1.
Tasty case and silencing options,I also know Carillon bend over backwards
(So to speak)to keep their customers happy.
In such a dog eat dog market I can only imagine Philip Rees being equally keen to keep customers satisfied.
At the end of the day you could build your own system with the similar specs to what these companies advertise for a few quid less but the support can be a life saver in times of need and Lachlan at Carillon deserves a meddle for the work he does in sorting out peoples problems.
I chose Carillon because I like the chassis they have compared to the generic
cases often punted by other places.

Spend the money if you think you'll need the support, don't bother if you don't. I can't bring myself to spend the extra money, but then again, I can work issues out on my own.

Yep...I do need support as I don't really know that much about computers.

I am actualy looking at the 'bare bones' tower system as I have a monitor, soundcard etc.
