I bought a BluesHarp for this homeless junkie that always hangs around the train station. I truely hope it's a good investment so he can earn an honest living busking and doesn't need to beg.
For myself, I did not buy much. Maybe some guitar strings but that doesn't count.

Pure Synth Platinum.
It's not the most flexible synth as far as internal modulations, but the sound is superb. Just something about anything that goes through the UVI construct has this creamy sound that is so pleasing.
This came out before a year before Falcon and has mostly the same same oscillators minus the sampling & modulations (which is not why I bought it). With the ability now to assign ANY parameter as host automation, this makes this my most flexible synth even though it is contained in the confines of the UVI format. PSP has some great presets as well and the amount of waveforms included makes this an endless box of creation. Using UVI Workstation in 64 bit I can easily use PSP for all of my tracks. The sound plays well with Dune 2 & Synthmaster (my other favorite synths that I bought last year) and has really helped changed the way I create.
Not to mention, I caught this on sale at 50% off, so I consider it a investment.
Much love to Gospel Musicians for making good power easily accessible and thinking outside of the box!

So I looked into my plugins folder and realized I only bought 4 music softwares in 2015.
In the order of aquisition: Echobode, Alpha 3, RMV and KICK NR Edition.
I'm very happy with each one of them, but I'd say the winner is Echobode.

It's just a bit of fun and discussion.

"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I bought a music desk with two 4u racks built in, and it's on casters. All my rack gear is now securely mounted, and the wheels make it easy to re-cable when I add or change gear.
My best software purchase was Reason with all rack extensions in the KVR charity auction.

I moved to mac in February in order to limit my choices software wise. I then downloaded mac versions of everything I'd bought previously...sigh.
I added the Mtotal bundle and wound up with just about everything except Serum, Bazille and Kaleidoscope.

actually my best purchase was 15 kilowatts of solar panels on the roof. I more or less make horrible noises for free....

Having fun though has to count for something? Sometimes i wonder myself why i bought so many professional music making plugins as i am not a professional musician and have no plans to become one either. I load up my DAW and just start making noises or sounds with my 10+ years of self-taught knowledge and have fun. It's that unexplainable contentment that keeps me wanting to learn more. I guess you're doing the same thing but with a bigger budgetwerp wrote:because I don't know what I'm doing with most of it.V0RT3X wrote:Well if you had the money to spare then why not eh?werp wrote:I've bought too much in 2015. I often make crappy sounding stuff, but i keep coming back only to find new tricks and new ways to make stuff that interests me. Yes sometimes it is frustrating, and i've lost count on how many times i said i wanted to give this expensive hobby up.
However now i'm starting to count this as a form of self-therapy as it also helps me zone out and forget lots of my problems. I think that is a good enough
justification as any?
I just have to remember not to choose this over my responsibilities, such as paying the bills first etc. Been there, done that and it was usually not that pleasant.
Cheers and happy music making.

Otherwise this may be "your worst purchase".

as a teen I fancied myself as a studio owner...40 years ago it meant more than it does now. I once was an audio tech. I was sidetracked by work, into lighting design and stage management and became good at many things rather than great, at one.
I was qualified before midi...nobody quite knew what it was or what it would become. I still think it's fairies that live in a box doing weird things...I have one guitar that should arrive in march and hopefully that'll be the end of it. I have enough gear for several lifetimes and the attention span of a gnat.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

That is a big install. I have 10.5 killowatt install comprised of 42 Sharp panels. You must have a lot of south facing roof space. Cool to see this on a KVR post!
