Rhino Demo Freezes Live 4

Hello,

I'm trying out softsynths to buy for Live 4.

When the Rhino Demo is added to a track, it produces a dialog that says the demo can't make presets, then it hangs there.

I have to end task Live 4, then I can hit OK and the dialog will go away.

Rhino looks cool & I wanted to try it out with Live 4.

Any ideas?

OK,
some hosts (including the latest Tobybear minihost) want, for some reason, to load all the presets from the synth at startup. For the plugin, there is no way to know if it is to perform a "save" action, hence the message.
This said, if you click "ok" to the message box (it may be displayed several times actually), everything should work fine. I'm downloading the demo of Live as I write, and I'll give it a try (gee, I now have about 15 hosts on my desktop...)

I was messing around with Ej in Live 4.01 today and experienced a similar problem.

I sorta got around it by loading in EnergyXT into live and loading EJ into EnergyXT.

It also let me load Sytrus fxb banks without issue.

Only useful if you have xt tho.

OK, I've been able to reproduce this problem (with many other ones, unrelated ro Rhino: Live froze while scanning my vst folder... and it will crash when opening my ASIO device.) But anyway, it really sounds like a Live bug to me. I'll get in touch with the Ableton guys... In the meantime you can give a try to Rhino in another host, or with the standalone version. Once registered it loads fine in Live, but you'll have to believe me on this... (I've had it loading and display the UI)

The dialog box is there, kind of floating above Live, like it's in another process.

I can hit OK one time, then Live is dead, with the Hour Glass of Doom.

Then I can't hit OK until after Live is End Task'd.

I have the same problem with EJ, also..

Ahem... from the FAQ at ableton.com:
- Does Live support VST instruments?
- Live currently does not support VST instruments. We cannot say for sure when Live will support this feature.

Now that's confusing... Is there any Live expert around who could help ?

Actually, I think you're exactly right.

Kodama, if it´s of any reassurance, I use Live4 and took the chance of buying Rhino 2.0 today.

I can gladly tell you that the full registered version works fine, no glitches so far, and I´ve already tried out some of the preset banks from Big Tick´s site and they all load and play fine too.

I had the same problem with the demo, but not anymore!

Oh, BTW, Rhino 2 is so beautiful it makes me cry.
