I love analog... My watches have hands and go tick-tock, I use candles for that warm analog glow that they give out, I play a Les Paul and my shoes are made of leather.
Now I've heard that with the original units of classic processors such as the Fairchild 670, or synths such as the Mini-Moog, they wouldn't sound their best until properly warmed up. So here's a tip: I always turn my PC on at least an hour before entering my virtual studio, just to make sure my Waves and T-Racks 670 emus are nice and warm. (I know, we all do it, right?)

Any other tips for getting that true analog sound that we all love? I'm sure you guys must have lots!

I installed tubes in my computer and I replaced all the blue LEDs with red, yellow, and orange ones - that really makes it sound warmer.

Neat! My pc case is too small for tubes but if I take the innards out and put them in the cardboard box it came in I might be able to fit them in... Hmmm...

Leather shoes are fine but during the summer I find canvas can help to give more organic results.

I couldn't really follow all that, but I think it said that I should pour hot beverages into my computer case, right? I'm gonna try it and report back. Hmmmm, I wonder if coffee, tea, or hot cocoa will sound most analog???

Be sure not to use instant or bags, though.

Thanks for that. Very interesting. Although different this reminds me of the Biological Computer Laboratory invented machines such as Adaptive Reorganising Automaton, Numa-Rete and Dynamic Signal Analizer.

I use my touch screen as a coaster so its covered in coffee mug stains,
really adds that vintage sound.

And I ALWAYS wear Espadrilles with my trousers slightly rolled up,
no wait thats actually come back into fashion!

Then there's these guys — so-called slime molds that formed a map of the Tokyo-area rail system by "finding" the most efficient paths between oat flakes placed on a non-nutritive substrate.

Slime molds aren't fungi as the video's notes say. The kind shown in the video, plasmodial slime molds, are ordinarily amoeba-type single-celled protists that at times come together to form colonies with various kinds and levels of organization. The ones in the video actually merge into a huge, multi-nucleated cell within which protoplasm streams quite rapidly; when the plasmodium exhausts the food source (in this case, bacteria in the oats) the plasmodium forms fruiting bodies superficially similar to those of fungi, which form spores that drift away in the air. Spores that land on a suitable substance return to amoebic form and repeat the cycle.

For convenience and historical reasons some other groups of organisms are also classified as slime molds. Some are closely related, others very distantly. To me they're a remarkable reminder that Earth life is not exclusively composed of the animal kingdom and plant kingdom as simplified elementary-school biology says. The kingdoms of fungi, protists, and archaea are distinct and quite important, just less visible and obvious.

Enough typing for a while. My paws ache.
