The unlocked oversampling option has to do with sound... But I'd like to know about this too, because I also considered buying the upgrade, just to make that banner disappear.

This looks like a fun one! I'm hoping I'll have time to finish an entry.

This song uses 10 instances of MPowerSynth and by the end my laptop was crawling even with latency set at 2048.. That kind of ended the project.

Other than that there was some effectors as reverb and limiter on master channel.

The project is made with FLstudio 12.1.3 :

I have a programming question for any MPower experts.

Is there a way to use midi velocity to control the volume of just one oscillator? It doesn't seem to come up as a modulation source in the modulators -- they are focused on the LFO's or a custom envelope -- both have lots of great options, but I can't find a simple midi modulation source selector.

Thanks.

Pretty cool beast, this one.
Have made my foundation sounds (basic drums, bass, pad and acid lead :) ) and while it sounds very good and is very capable I'm not really at home with the workflow. A lot of jumping between tabs and windows, very hard to get an overview. For an instrument with such depth and possibilities I prefer a more modular approach but that is probably harder to optimize.

I think with some better overview over oscillator, noise and filter mix and all different envelopes workflow would be greatly improved.

Looking forward to hearing the sounds and tracks this bunch cooks up with this :)

I guess i'll download the demo and check it out, a bit out of budget for me to purchase the full version so I'm a little leery of spending a lot of time making a song just to not have it be editable after the contest ends. But it might be nice to see if I can place a little higher than dead last for once, I do feel like my production skills have been improving since my previous entries.

I want to apologise for my previous comments, it's just that I got frustrated because I really would like to enter this month, but I can't because my trial already expired.

If strictly by rules, no: https://www.meldaproduction.com/plugins ... ectsBundle

However, if you don't use oversampling, or spectral analyzer, it seems about the same. Also, it is a melda month, so it seems ok.

I got word back from MeldaProduction. The the only way as of now to re-trial the software is: Use another computer, or reinstall the OS / install new OS boot.

They have phenomenally nice support, so I'll bug them one more time about a possible discount

I'm a little leery of these contests, I seem to always get close to last place so I'm hoping I can come up with something halfway decent.

Thankfully the percussion presets actually sounds quite nice with this synth, which is where I usually struggle with, making drum sounds that don't suck. So I felt inspired to make some beats but I'm not sure how I feel about this song overall or if I will even enter it into the contest.

If any of you can offer some feedback on my rough draft I'd greatly appreciate it...would go a long way to motivating me to put the time into the contest this month. I'd love to collab actually if anyone has Bitwig Studio.

A new year and another new OSC...how can I resist :) Happy New Year to fellow OSC-ers!

As others have mentioned, I was reluctant to put too much effort into learning a (very expensive!) trial synth, but I installed the demo out of curiosity. After 2 hours of noodling, I was already halfway into writing a decent tune and was caught...hook, line and sinker, so there is no going back :)

It is a very nice sounding synth with lots of excellent patches, but it does have a fairly intimidating GUI/workflow. Lots of very interesting sound design possibilities and a truly insane effects section. Haven't worked out the modulation workflow, but I don't really need any crazy effects for what I am composing.

After more than 3 instances , Reaper was throwing up the GPU warning that Tjgoa mentioned, followed by a hard crash of Reaper. After going in and turning of GPU acceleration in the prefs, everything was fine, so would definitely recommend doing this with your first instance!

Post

I didn't experience any bugs or crashes with lots of instances but I do have a gaming GPU.

Unfortunately it looks like it just has velocity on or off if you click on the MIDI control area on the bottom right, that you can then use to control a multi parameter.

PS: It is great to be able to put other instances of MPowerSyth in as an effect (complete with it's own effects section). Using the " Modular " effect (an effect section inside the effects section) is also nice to consolidate things.

Hehe yeah I thought I had earlier, here is my little idea so far ~ https://clyp.it/eyr5pgd0

I admit I like the sound of this synth, in particular the percussion actually sounds as good as sampled percussion which was a nice surprise for me. But I'm not too sure how to actually use the synth, like I couldn't figure out how to edit the arp, and my automation thus far has been constrained to the mod wheel.

I'm just not sure how much time to invest in this synth though because it's a bit too expensive for me to consider investing in and the demo is only 30 days so I may just jam out some ideas and bounce them.

I guess I could try to polish this idea more and enter it into the contest, I just know I'll be disappointed if people don't like it, but hopefully I've had some quality improvement since the last couple OSCs I've entered. I doubt I'd actually win a prize but I'm just looking to make a song good enough to finish in the top 50% vs the bottom 5%.
