But what if you want to have the same polyphony for all patches (global override)? With different presets altering the polyphony you can't see what's going on at a glance.martin_l wrote:Personally, I prefer not to have the polyphony on the main GUI.

OK. Finally, I implemented a compromise: Whether the polyphony will displayed on the main GUI or in the settings panel, can be determined in the pg8x.ini file.electro wrote:But what if you want to have the same polyphony for all patches (global override)? I am currently cleaning up the code, and looking for one remaining (discovered) bug, and hope to release the next beta in a few days.
Cheers,
Martin

Thank you Martin! Great to hear!

Thanks Martin, very nice to get an update for this synth. I noticed that while the dll sure is new, the name of the x64 package is actually PG8X-64_2015-01-04.zip. I guess it should rather be 2016-01-04 like it is for the x32 already. That said, great 2016 for you as well.

Also i don't know if it is a bug or if the GUI works this way, but in REAPER i can't undo any changes i make to the synth, to the DAW the changes simply don't exist.
It is a very minor thing though, PG8X is great anyway.

Great news Martin!
Thank you so much for the update!
A little bug report: VCA gate mode is a bit too "clicky" or "glitchy". Isn't it? I tried changing various parameters like nr. of voices, poly/mono1/mono2 mode, chorus on/off, but it always clicks too much. Or maybe it's intentional? I used to own a SH-101 and it sounded clean in VCA gate mode, no clicks. I tested it on my "wingman" laptop in Reaper x64, Windows 7x64 so far.
Happy New Year to you Martin, your family, and fellow KVR chaps! Cheers!

More on my previous bug report. After restarting the system I got crackling even in normal VCA ENV mode, so I exited Reaper, restarted OS again, and now I don't get any crackling, or just very occasionally. It doesn't matter though that I restarted the OS because it was freshly started before. It seems like this is one of those "evasive bugs"?
I suspect it might have something to do with GUI refreshing frequency or ASIO priority, as it sounds that way, and it's not CPU as it consumes just up to 2% on my laptop. Could be DC offset somewhere in the audio path, too. I tried changing ASIO buffer setting with no effect.
I get a pretty hefty pg8x.log file from running it. Seems like this version still has logging/debugging turned on? Is there any way to turn it off? I haven't noticed any option for that in the pg8x.ini.
Cheers!

Yes also on Cantabile free version the VCA on GATE mode gives occasional clicks on release (windows 8 64 bit, both on Digidesign Mbox" Asio driver or ASIO4ALL driver)
Nevertheless thank you so much for this and all these updates in between your daily job duties.
Awesome synth indeed.
All the best and wishing you a belated Happy New Year.
Cheers - Diego
