Can't find it...checked out youtube and tracker forums most of it is chiptunes otherwise amateur stuff.

Personaly, I am trying to make it happen with OpenMPT with VSTs but am really curious about others who have succeeded.

I know it can be powerful I just need a bit of inspiration and would really like to see it work.

I know Renoise is probably used by some big names but I just can't locate it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Mitch Murder is the only one I know of for sure. But I'm sure there's more.

Venetian Snares is probably the biggest name for known Renoise users

There was a wealth of quality music made with trackers some 20-25 years ago... and a whole scene with 'teams' or 'groups' of musicians who would compete at large compos/expos of sorts. IRC channels up where they would discuss.

When Windows and Mac based audio hosts became more available at the turn of the century, I think trackers took a backseat for many of these artists. While others started families and the sort.. just moved on.

Of course sample quality was usually rather poor back then.. but you can hear the music within..

(1995 - fav tracker song, still gives me chills)

(1997 - complex goa trance, 16.5 minutes long but gets more involved the further you stick with it. Sadly this recording of it is hugely clipping but you get an idea)

(1997 - B side of the goa trance release just above this one over 20 minutes long.)

(1998 - Triphopish vibe. I was a big NOiSE fan back then - lots of talented musicians in that group)

(1998 - Ambient/Chill.)

(1999 - Techno)

I think the heyday was back then in the late 90s for tracker music.. not that it isn't still around, but I think it was stronger back then.. more vibrant community back when the internet was still new and it was amazing to communicate and share music with other like minded people across the globe. Wonderful time.

Ironically, I only got into music production due to me looking for sound libraries to introduce sound into my ramshackle game project. I found SEAL (Synthetic Audio Library) and it came with a few mod songs as demo. I became fascinated by the MOD songs, forgot my coding/programming, and started writing (terrible) music.. years later went back to school for programming. Still haven't made a game. :hihi:

Thanks guys much appreciated I will look these up!

I am hoping to find those using VSTI's in a tracker since it seems like a powerful combo.

supposedly Aphex Twin used a tracker quite a bit on druqks. called playerpro.

but who knows if that's accurate

John Fruciante used renoise for some stuff.

If you are like me and do not really feel those Venetian Snares and Aphex Twin experimentations, here is some more musical stuff made with trackers (Renoise, to be precise):

1) Everything from B-complex (soundcloud.com/b-complex)

Example:

2) The instrumentals from Pete Philly and Perquisite (petephillyandperquisite.com)

Example:

3) Keith303 (keith303.de)

from the Hangable Auto Bulb EP - find it in better quality though, youtube sucks.

Also m-ziq, Bogdan Raczynski (he also has some mods you may be able to find with Soulseek - search for "Bogdan mods" archives), IDM of the 90s and breakcore of the 00s... check some of Rephlex and WARP discography

I don't know if you consider it "good" music nowadays, but this track got me into music :)
