I am glad that I gave this a miss. I signed on for EW's Composer Cloud deal, and have their Hollywood Gold collections, which are, for the most part, pretty good. Thing is, with what I already have, most of that is redundant, and I will likely cancel my subscription there, as well. Cost to try out their stuff for a month, + MPV tutorial library access for a month? €32.00. So, too, even if the Miro2 had been the bees-knees, it would've still been redundant for my purposes. Best thing I got out of the EW deal was learning how to use the newest version of iMovie.

I was tempted but I'm still sore at IKM from them adding in the good instruments late on a group buy to try and get repeat customers, so I passed. Glad I did based on comments here and elsewhere. I'm sure the reviews are coming, but so far I'm not aware of a single review on the product from a review type site. Kind of a lot of silence for this release.
I've got Kirk Hunter Diamond, the Strings from KU9 and don't need the repack of Miroslav 1 since I have the original and ST3, so I suspect it would be a bit redundant here too. And just to give BERFAB's fingers a workout, yes I think ST3 is a flawed product. Especially since I get periodic blue screens of death on the VST3 version.

In fairness, there's little of Miro 1 in this release. A lot of new sounds are in Miro 2, and the library is quite large.
That said, I have to agree with some others here - the content does not meet the required sampling to compare to libraries at the same price line.
Now, that said, I have found a few of the patches to my liking, but very few.
The thing I like most about the library is that there are patches you do not find in other libraries - such as glissando's. The downside is they don't sound all that good. But maybe that's just my ear.
As for the glitches some are having with ST3, I can honestly say I'm not encountering those. OTOH, I'm not using ST3 much due to the sound content.

As I said earlier, I'm not a programmer, so I can't really comment on the tech stuff. @TheoM, as a PC user, I REALLY can't comment on Yosemite performance.
What I can say is that I try to keep my studio PC as sharp as the programs I run on it, so every 3 years or so, I just get the latest and greatest available and port everything over. This past year, I was fortunate to have my computer genius son offer to build me one. And it's a Frankenstein of epic proportions to say the least. Tons of memory, storage and speed. And, of course, if it goes on the fritz, I know who to call.
On my kid's advice, it only runs Win 8 [not 10]. Load times on ALL my stuff (including ST3) are lightening fast, and I'm finding that unless there is an actual documented bug, all the programs I'm currently running work flawlessly.
When I first installed the latest ST3 on Win 8, it WAS pretty rough. Entire functions (especially MIDI assignments and browser) were inoperable and would immediately crash EVERYTHING (BSOD). I was VERY vocal about it here on KVR as well as with IKM support. Much to my surprise (and IKM's credit) the fix came very quickly with the next point release after only a week or so. Absolutely no trouble since.
YMMV, of course.
Cheers

To be fair it has been a while since i thought about updating ST3, so there might be a fix. Thanks for mentioning that.
I have a good buddy who is a computer whiz, he finally got me out of the dark ages with 16 gigs of ram and a decent I7 quad-core. Not bleeding edge, because I didn't want the wallet to bleed... Nice to know folks who understand computers isn't it?

It's very nice indeed. Of course, being a proud father, I get a rush every time I see the kid work. He didn't get the music gene from me for some reason, but when I see him sit down in front of the computer, it's like watching Van Cliburn on the piano.bigcat1969 wrote:To be fair it has been a while since i thought about updating ST3, so there might be a fix. Also, FYI, while certainly impressive, my PC isn't 'bleeding edge.' I actually had to talk my son off the ledge on some of his suggestions which would have probably given me enough power to single-handedly run the servers for the New York Stock Exchange. At a price to match. Likewise, his offer to add an LED multi-color lighting array was a cool, albeit unnecessary, feature. So, you see, there ARE limits.

I came here to shake off the images that ST3 and MP2 are buggy. Both work perfectly on my system - laptop Windows 8.
I've never had troubles with installations, missing sounds, CPU spikes or blue screens yet.

I agree that the browser needs improvement. The fact that you can't collapse it still drives me nuts (really can't believe that this was not introduced in ST3 as many folks complained about this with St2). Also, would be nice to be able to move/re-order the order of the effects on a channel. As is, you can't. Also would be nice to be able to save presets for any effect that is loaded. Aside from those points (and the slow loading times for large instruments that I already mentioned), it's pretty solid... Comes with really nice sounds...

Nice! Thanks! I will give it a try when I am at the DAW. I wonder if this is documented in the manual. I read it back to back. Might have accidentally missed that part.DarkStar wrote:Ctrl+dragpheeleep wrote: Also, would be nice to be able to move/re-order the order of the effects on a channel. As is, you can't.

Not to derail, but on St3 (or Miro2) is the round robin option in the edit section available for just the instrument that it's in (for instruments with different articulations) or is that a round robin for any instrument in a given MIDI channel?
BTW... I'm still going through all of the sounds from purchasing Total Studio 3, so I'm definitely not looking to upgrade as of yet.

Hello everybody,
I found the following problem with Miroslav Philharmonik 2:
Philharmonic Grand: when playing the bass notes F1, F#1 and G1with medium velocity, there is a distortion on the left channel.
Classical Philharmonic Grand: when playing the bass notes F1, F#1 and G1with medium velocity, there is a distortion on the left channel.
Philharmonic Grand Dark: when playing the bass notes D1, D#1 and E1with medium velocity, there is a distortion on the left channel.
Philharmonic Grand Bright: when playing the bass notes G#1, A1 and A#1with medium velocity, there is a distortion on the left channel.
I installed Miroslav 2 on different harddiscs and repeated the download - the problem stays the same. Some of the samples seem to be defective. Did anybody notice?
