You could also use very slow/static sample&hold LFOs, one for each stack oscillators, set the LFOs to re-trigger, then each osc will have a different phase modulation.jacobh wrote:The only place I see the Random modulator available is under the "External" heading, and when I select it there the same random value is supplied for all of the phase knobs in the Analog Stack that are modulated with it.Sampleconstruct wrote:Or use the random modulator either bipolar or unipolar random.jacobh wrote:Is there an easy way to make phase drift in the Analog Stack osc? Is this a bug? Shouldn't all the random values be unique?
If it's as intended, and the Random modulator is supposed to supply the same value to all knobs that use it, I think it would be helpful to have a Random modulator available on the Internal Keygroup level as well, so you could have multiple of them supplying unique values.

Well Random is a different random value for each voice but it's the same when used in different parameter of the same voice.jacobh wrote:The only place I see the Random modulator available is under the "External" heading, and when I select it there the same random value is supplied for all of the phase knobs in the Analog Stack that are modulated with it.Sampleconstruct wrote:Or use the random modulator either bipolar or unipolar random.jacobh wrote:Is there an easy way to make phase drift in the Analog Stack osc? Please note that the phase parameter is only taken into account when the voice is triggered.

Well, that's the problem when we cannot reproduce it in house.SolarRainUK wrote:No, I don't run anything like that. Disappointed to realise I'm probably the only person with this specific problem, it means finding out what's causing the issue is going to be mostly down to my own investigations.otristan wrote:A colleague is using Studio one and is not experiencing any issue.SolarRainUK wrote:Any word of a fix coming for the high CPU useage in Studio One 3, when Falcon's interface is open? I've barely used it since it was released, and even after the most recent patches it doesn't seem as though anything has been done to sort the problem. With the UI open it's still pretty much unusable.
We had a user who had similar issue in another host and it ended being an application which calibrated automatically his color balance screen (f.lux). Do you run a similar app ?
Thanks !
It's still the case, that only certain UI pages in Falcon are causing the massive CPU spikes. And fit to screen actually improves things a great deal. Anyway, I sent all the details and my specs to support, but I guess I wont hold my breath for a solution.
I suppose you have already try updating your graphics card drivers, tried with openGL renderer, checked in another host see if this is related to your system or to this particular host given your configuration.

Yes, I've tried all that, except for running it in a different host. Unfortunately I don't have another that I use, but I'll see if I can find a trial/demo and test.otristan wrote:Well, that's the problem when we cannot reproduce it in house.SolarRainUK wrote:No, I don't run anything like that. Mac or PC ? Bitwig has a demo which is easy to install.SolarRainUK wrote:Yes, I've tried all that, except for running it in a different host. The best would be to try in Reaper as EvilDragon has confirmed it works fine for him, so if doesn'tSolarRainUK wrote: Yes, I've tried all that, except for running it in a different host. Unfortunately I don't have another that I use, but I'll see if I can find a trial/demo and test.
we can know that it's related to your system and not to the DAW itself.

What kind of graphics card is that system? Some of the onboard graphics are pretty bad so if it should be a mixed system, try switching S1 to use the other card (or get one).otristan wrote:The best would be to try in Reaper as EvilDragon has confirmed it works fine for him, so if doesn'tSolarRainUK wrote: Yes, I've tried all that, except for running it in a different host. Could also make sense to try (if not already) to make sure the power settings are set to the highest possible (on Windows that would be the "High Performance" setting).
Overall I find S1 to be the least performant DAW available (at least on my quite beefy system).
Falcon runs great for me on Windows 8.1 x64 in Bitwig Studio.
Good luck with hunting it down!
Cheers,
Tom

I don't use onboard graphics, it's a GeForce 680 if I remember correctly, using latest drivers. High performance mode has always been enabled. I know it's not the system, as I run some very large music projects with many layers. Multiple instances of Diva, Zebra HZ, Dune 2 etc, including many power hungry FX, and it holds up very well, in fact I rarely, if ever have to freeze any tracks. But one instance of Falcon with the most basic patch will bring it to its knees (but only with the UI open).ThomasHelzle wrote:What kind of graphics card is that system? Thanks for the help and ideas guys. I'll try Bitwig and Reaper tomorrow when I get the chance and see how they fare.

Besides the Pluck osc. I'm getting the most pleasure from the Wavetable osc. and wonder if there's any equal to, or even something better suited as a wavetable-building app than, Xfer Serum? For Mac users…
I've looked at the W Palm apps but only in demo form and can't really tell if what they make would be easily imported into Falcon, without a lot of fuss with intermediary wave editors or sample-length naming, etc.
Ideally I'd love to just buy them all for all their other, main features, but, you know…$.
Thanks for any suggestions and other ideas!

For what it's worth, I get audio glitches when using standalone and also in cantabile Lite if I go over GUI elements of other programs or if there are some underneath. It's fine in Cubase and FL12 though. Open GL on/off makes no difference to the issue. Not a big deal to me I only use it standalone for programming. I use the onboard I7 graphics which performs great everywhere else.

Is there a way to save just a layer or keygroup on their own, to be opened and added in other patches?
A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.

Not really but you can save a Program, then load the included Layer to the currently opened Program.Norrin_Radd wrote:Is there a way to save just a layer or keygroup on their own, to be opened and added in other patches?
There is an option named "Load as Layers" in the popup browser.

I'm surprised UVI didn't bundle plugsound pro with Falcon
Surely it would of been the perfect library for Falcon manipulation ?

I just want to have phase drift like an analog synth, so an LFO for each of them will probably work fine, since you say that it's only taken into account when the voice is triggered, but it just uses up extra cpu that wouldn't be necessary if there was a random modulator available on the voice level. Any chance of adding this in the future, or adding a "random phase" button to the Analog Stack oscillator?otristan wrote:Well Random is a different random value for each voice but it's the same when used in different parameter of the same voice.jacobh wrote:The only place I see the Random modulator available is under the "External" heading, and when I select it there the same random value is supplied for all of the phase knobs in the Analog Stack that are modulated with it.Sampleconstruct wrote:Or use the random modulator either bipolar or unipolar random.jacobh wrote:Is there an easy way to make phase drift in the Analog Stack osc? If you want an analog phase drift effect, then you probably only need to add a very subtle chaotic envelope(use Drunk modulation) on the oscillator pitch.
Still I've added a free running option in analog stack for each osc in the next version. Only available in TreeView inspector.
