Real reverbs are more muddy I think.

The interesting thing is that there are lots of real spaces that have a reverb which seem to be quite unrealistic.
I guess in a blind test there would be lot of confusion.
the question in the case, IMO, how to do (and where) the blind test...in a real space ? ...should be admitted that such test in itself simply can't be ...realistic !

:P :P :P

I once created a number of IRs made in the room that housed one of those massive old computers but later rejected them because they sounded too digital

Then go to Canada, and record some new IRs in an ana-log cabin ;).
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

I just re-amp and re-capture everything inside the Grand Canyon with dozens of mics placed in precise locations fanning out in all directions at 50m apart. The closer mics are then mixed in for reverb and the mics farther away are my delays. I'm still struggling to mix quarter notes and dotted 8ths though.

This is my goto for early reflections, the trees muffle the signal somewhat but I eq the highs back in later.

New OSX beta (1.5.0dot25) in user accounts. Changes:

- 5 new reverb modes, as described earlier.
- Fixed issue with setting decay time when first selecting new reverb modes at 88.2/96 kHz sampling rates.
- Fixed "orphaned window" bug with Mode & Preset menus, where closing the GUI when these menus were open could cause bad things to happen.

Windows version should hopefully be done in a few days. My Windows build machine keeps crashing. I may have to move things over to the older Mac Mini / Parallels machine for now.

lol... Wolverine!

Just catching up on this and was struck by Adamantium (ouch, right?).

Personal cat anecdote warning: I lost my three elder cats in their teens to various chronic illness and age within a ten month span recently (they all had truly great lives).

Orpheus or Woobie was a big, diabetic in later years, Maine Coonish guy with a less than gentle giant temperament on occasion.

He shredded me a few times to become known as Woolberine/Woolbie.

Anyway, looking forward to getting vplate this quarter.

I REALLY wanted a Mithril plate. However, I also want to avoid being sued by the Tolkien estate.

Sorry to hear about your cats. I'm pretty allergic to cats, but I am a huge fan of the Maine Coon cats and related breeds.

Hi all,

The ValhallaPlate 1.5.0dot25 beta for Windows was just uploaded to the valhalladsp.com user account system. So, if you're a ValhallaPlate owner, you can log into your account and try out the 1.5.0 beta, for both Windows and OSX now.

Changes since the initial 1.0.0 release:

- 5 new reverb modes
- Lots of new presets from Don Gunn
- A few bug fixes

Looking forward to hearing your feedback! Assuming everything goes well with the Windows beta, I will make these the official releases in a few days, and will post demo versions at that time.

Wow, very nice Sean, will be tested tomorrow!

Can you give some info about the new different reverb modes?

From an earlier post of mine (about 5 pages back - I had to dig to find it):
3 of the new reverb modes (Adamantium, Titanium, Osmium) have been dialed in to emulate different plate models. Lower modal density at the minimum size, extended high frequency response, and lows ranging from tight to massive.

The Radium mode is designed to preserve the stereo image and panning of any signals put into it. I describe it as "parallel stereo," but parallel mono is the best way of describing it. Imagine 2 plates, that have all the random variations of real plates, but tightly matched for decay times and tonal response. Pan a signal anywhere in the stereo image, and Radium will reverb it from that part of the stereo image only. It is still nice and wide for mono signals.

Lithium is another "big" mode, with chamber-esque modal density. Soft attack, a nicely tamed high frequency response, and stereo imaging that starts from the source location and slowly fills the stereo field.

Hui, this sounds very interesting... :o

This parallel stereo model sounds very interesting for sounds with phaser/chorus/delay FX.
Hopefully there are not many bugs so you can release it in the next days.
It seems tomorrow is Xmas again :D
