Could anyone tell me how can I assign the volume to the modulation wheel of the keyboard? I'm somehow amazed this wasn't implemented from the very first moment, since it's a very necessary feature, especially when working with sounds that needs to fade out (such as strings, french horns and others). I'm aware about the fact there are instruments with release sounds, but not all of them have it and being able to assign the volume to the MW it's a must.

Job done.

Thank you for your suggestion, DarkStar. It works perfectly within Sampletank 3, but in MP2, when I move the MW, number 1 will not appear in the black box and consequently the knob will not be assigned. Cubase 8 detects the midi input when I spin the MW since my Yamaha Motif XS has no flow in acting as midi controller. Could this be a bug within MP2?

Maybe; I just did it in ST3.

This is strange, I noticed that in MP2 there are instruments that will allow me to assign the MW and others which doesn't. Also, when I click the "info" button corresponding to an instrument, I can see a list of existing macros, still the instrument will not respond accordingly.

Anyway, I was hoping to be able to assign MW to the volume button in a different manner. Right now it will modify only the specific volume button that I paired, from channel 3. But I wanted to be able to modify volume from all channels, when I would select different channels. Would this be possible maybe?

I'm able to set the MW to each channel here emauelsj, but to get it to work in the DAW, I have to enable the channel, that is to say, "Arm Recording". I'm using Live 9.5

Then, if you decide you don't want to use MW for this, click "Control" then "Volume" then "Remove" for each channel you have set it up on.

HTH

EDIT: I wanted to see if I could send MW to multiple channels and so armed several channels and yes, it will send to all simltaneous; however, the caveat is it sends the same amount of control to each channel so you will lose some dynamics this way. Best to control one channel at a time.

Thank you for the tip, dsan! I'm using Cubase 8, so I'm not sure which will be the analog option to enable in this other environment. Anyone using Cubase, that knows how to enable that "Arm recording" feature?

It should be automatic when you select a track, unless you have disabled this in preferences.

It's the record button on the track. It will turn red with a black center when the track is armed.

But you have confused me with "so I'm not sure which will be the analog option to enable in this other environment."

Please explain what you are attempting. The more information you give the better we can help.

dsan, now I understood what you were saying - thank you!

This is what I was trying to achieve: I loaded two instruments in the "Play" window of Miroslav Phihlarmonik 2, within Cubase 8. I linked the modulation wheel to the first instrument volume slider, via Learn/click the control/move the physical button. Now I was hoping to be able to modify the volume slider of the second instrument, when selected within Miroslav Phihlarmonik 2. But even with the second instrument selected, the MW would control the first instrument volume only.

Somehow I solved the issue following your advice: I created two midi tracks corresponding to the 2 instruments I loaded in MP2. Now if I select the first midi track created in Cubase, the MW will control the first MP2 instrument volume. Consequently, if I select the second midi track, MW will control the second instrument volume, which was what I wanted.

But I wanted to be able to select an instrument directly within MP2 and this action to automatically do the Cubase midi channel selection: just click the instrument in MP2 and move MW to change volume. Now what I have to do is to click outside MP2, to select the midi channel and only after that I can modify the volume with the MW.

EDIT: I went in Cubase/File/Preferences/VST/Plug-ins and I saw the option "Synchronize Plug-in Program Selection to Track Selection". It is the behavior I'm expecting here, but even though it's enabled, it doesn't seem to work properly.

Ok, it sounds like you have it sorted.

Yes, you will need to select a track first within Cubase so that all controls are enabled to that track. Then if you want to control something on another track you will have to select that track.

For each instrument you place in Miro 2 (up to 16 possible per instance of Miro 2), you will want to create a corresponding instrument track in Cubase. This scenario gives the greatest control and flexibility.

Else, you can set up 16 instruments in Miro 2, all on the same MIDI channel, and when moving a controller, it will affect all 16 instruments. This is called layering and is the least flexible method for obtaining good dynamics.

Glad you got it sorted :tu:

EDIT: Not sure what is "Synchronize Plug-in....." but it is not "Arm Recording". You may want to pull out the manual to get a better understanding of this feature.

I did a test with Halion 5, which also gives the possibility to add multiple instruments simultaneously on different/same midi channel. With the "Synchronize Plug-in....." feature on, when I click an instrument within Halion, the midi track automatically gets into focus. Also, if I click the midi track, the corresponding instrument within Halion will be automatically selected. Do you think IK could implement support for this useful feature?

Thanks again for your input, in the end it took me to the right path! Cheers! :)

Well, I think they have coders with ability to include such features; however, they have yet to implement features on the request boards for some time so I doubt they will.

But you could send them the request and hope it goes somewhere.

It is a good feature certainly.
