Any really good music made with trackers?

Trackers where the first "virtual studios", but since the new daws evolved, I switched to these modern tools. If I have to decide between a tracker or a daw, I prefer the daw software (e.g Reaper)
Of course there are solutions to use the tracker as vst in a daw,

James Holden wrote the now classic 'Horizons' on a tracker iirc.

Madtracker can host vsti's. Alexander Hallberg, who I linked to earlier, uses some EWQL vsti's hosted in it with success.

Not sure who other use it other than him, though. I've downloaded it many times, but never gotten around to try it

I know Saine used Renoise in the past. Not sure if he's still using it.

I loved this back in the day. Loved the demo it went with, too.

Even though I dont use Renoise much myself these days, it still has it's strong sides against the "modern DAW", e.g. Live or Cubase. The main force (IMO) being the way to manipulate samples in a way not easily achieved with a sampler.

Totally subjective, he also asked for big names and he's definitely among the most well known...which is to say that there is pretty much no one in the mainstream using/admitting to using trackers, the software fills a very small niche.spaceman wrote:That pretty shit though.

It is kind of silly though how trackers have kind of been type casted as just being for crazy drum beats in recent times, partly because of Venetian Snares or rumors that Aphex Twin used trackers, all kinds of music has been made with them.
