Nothing fancy. HP tower, 32 Gb Ram, Intel I7 quadcore at 3.4 Gh, Windows 10. I.ve been running Orion as my DAW forever and see no real reason to change. I'm current to Komplete9. I would've gone to 10 but it doesn't include Reaktor 6, so I purchased Reaktor 6 instead. Probably wait for Komplete 12 or 13 before I upgrade again, unless there's a really good reason. I did go with Komplete Audio 6 for my sound device and I am loving the connectivity. Also went to Guitar Center (damn, I love Guitar Center and firmly believe they could market the air in there as a home fragrance, or maybe for hanging from the rearview in my car!!)....and picked up the Komplete Kontrol S49. Monoprice had a nice deal on 8" powered monitors. I was using the Alesis M1 Actives and loved them, but the power supply went on one of them for the second time, so I replaced them and love what I got. I'll repair the others for use with my phone in my wood shop as a jukebox. Besides the Native instruments stuff, I went nuts on software. I set aside way more cash than I thought I'd use and ended up exceeding my own expectations. The short list: Addictive Drums, SugarBytes Guitarist, Izotopes Creative Bundle which includes Iris2 and BreakTweaker among others, EzMix and EzDrummer (I know, seems redundant with addictive drums, but what the heck) and Synthmaster2. Some add-ons for Native Instruments Reaktor and Kontact, also....Exhale and Realidrums for Kontact. The Mouth, The Finger and Flesh for Reaktor. And finally, Nexus2....the basic setup with just the expansions that come with. Anyways, a bit more than I need and really, I should have been happy with Komplete as far as software goes, but what the heck. I've also used Sony Soundforge for years, upgraded from 8 to 11.
My last Machine I got in 2004 and it lasted until they stopped supporting XP. This one will be around awhile, too!
New Machine!!

Heh. The Guitar Center near me is a game where you try to catch an employee's attention and they try to look like they're too busy to notice. Eventually, when there are about 18 people standing around desperately waving their credit cards, somebody finally puts in an appearance behind the register to clear them out. If you want to actually ask questions or try out gear though, good luck.
So I avoid the place when possible. Last time I went, it was because the Maschine Mk2 I ordered online from another store turned out to be a Maschine Mk1 in a Mk2 box; I returned it but didn't have the patience to wait for them to ship another one.

Foosnark!! I go to the one in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I never had that at all. Dudes love to talk about whatever you got going on. They'll rig up a guitar with the head you want and you can play all day. The guys in the keys section are just awesome. I used to go there a lot more because I lived there...moved north about 10 years ago. All the old faces were gone. Could be their customer service isn't as good as it used to be. I walked in knowing what I wanted and walked out with it pretty fast. My kid was playing with the vocoder on the MicroKorg they had set up, so that took a while, but The service itself was spot on. Probably a difference in management styles.
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.
