Just downloaded the 2.2.1 package and indeed, there seems to be an off-line activation option in the Cakewalk personal account pages. Also, from the z3ta+2 options one can export the offline activation request which is then to be imported into the account page...I guess and maybe...didn't get that far. I think I used similar in 2011 when I updated to 2.1, certainly I didn't use any CCC and haven't installed it now either. But now I only got the VST3 version even running in demo mode, VST2 crashes the host, no way to get it going. Uninstalled the lot and running 2.1 again, let's see in another month or two, maybe.

Tbh, the CCC somehow grew on me. It's ok really, does the job. And i don't need to visit Cakewalks website to find out if there's a new version, i just start up the CC, see there's a new version, click on update, and it does the rest for me. Just had a quick run with v2.2.1, and it seemed to work fine. Only fiddled an hour or so though, but did some heavy modulation, and didn't experience a problem.

Post

Yep, it finally activates alright over here, too.

I must say Cake was pretty cool in communicating with me (minus the usual holidays, but that's fine since I was on vacation as well). They sent betas back and forth, I sent them log files... everything got fixed in the end.

I am happy to report that I just ran the same version of CCC that gave me grief before, and this time it applied the update to Z+2 correctly. I fired up the stand alone version, and it reported within a few seconds that it was now authorized. No hoops whatsoever. I've not had a chance to get into Cubase yet and check it there, so fingers crossed. That is the only place that counts for me. I never use standalones.

Yeah, updated to 2.2 correctly :tu:

Same here, my precious Z+2 is working again.
But from now I will be wary of buying any new Cakewalk synth. It is not ok for a vendor to screw up
it registration software so we are left unable to use software we paid for.

Do me a favor, tell that to Steinberg...

I had some problems with the CC and registering Z3ta+ 2. All working now after a few tries.

Well, I'm OT, but Steinberg released a major, intermittent bug in Cubase 8.5 that causes group tracks and VCA tracks to go silent for no obvious reason except when you click and hold the faders. Release the mouse button and the whole group is silent. It's related to automation. It makes the DAW too unreliable to trust. I've lost work, and they seem to be refusing to put it on their known issues thread on their forum. Lots of users seeing the problem and posting there. Yup, I paid them for this new problem. I want to share it with the world and maybe force their hand.

Did you sent them a support mail describing the problem?

There is a multi-page thread under the category "Issue Reports". They have to approve your posts before they appear. It's all right there, and someone has read every post before approving. They need nothing from me. It's all right there, and not under "Known Issues", as it should be. That is the proverbial finger that rubs me wrong.

Tbh, i never came along a company which mainly uses their forums as a way to handle bug reports, or even take it very serious regarding reported issues. So i kind of disagree with the "They need nothing from me" part. It's your opinion and decision though, of course.

WTF Cakewalk!? Have they fired all the programmers on recent years and replaced them with monkeys with typewriters that their product development and release quality has gone down the drain?

So finally decided to download the ZTA2+ update now the the offline activation seems to be available without installing the CC cr@p. But when installing I see that now you can choose the directory for content files (instead of dumping it in the root of C:\ like previous versions) but not the installation directory. Ok, it's not that hard to copy the stuff over. But why not install the update where the previous version is? Or why just not let me choose to install over the previous version? Do they have anyone left there who actually uses and tests the products they are releasing? And it's was a rhetorical question as they obviously do not, judging by the quality of the products they have been releasing recently.

I am pretty sure: "NO!"
