WOW!

But, this appears to be a remix. So I am not sure where this is derrived from or what exactly you made for this track. I agree though; mean beats.

Welcome to KvR btw :)

yah yah west london, right back to ya from hollywood usa!!!

this track was originally given to me by a fantastic vocalist named sy smith, who you can peep here

www.sysmith.com

she is a diva's diva, was featured on the brand new heavies last album, extremely talented (keys, background vox, lyrics, writing, production, everything), a very nice, professional woman, and, as u can see.... HOT!!!!!!

she was at a recording session, and while waiting around, popped into a production room and recorded the tune at 90 bpm, just her on keys bass and vox.

she gave me an acapella version at a band rehearsal... and there ya go...

(btw, she is in nyc recording with ali shaheed muhammed from a tribe called quest... word is they are using the track on her album, and i'll be sending them the .wav's for a "real" mix by a tru mix engineer. should be VERY educational 4 me...)

inspiration WEST LONDON SOUNDS, BABY!!! Mark De Clive Lowe, Jessica Lauren, Daz I Q, Dego... plus Jazzanova, Horace Silver, TS Monk, Miles Davis... and many more...

gear used
Logic pc 5.51
EXS 24 (my most used plug in... and w. recycle support, gives me a blazing package... i developed alot of bad habits waiting for recycled slices to be sent to my K2000 via midi, cough cough!!!)

Rhodes 88 Stage MarkII (thru Pod XT, with USB the only way to fly)

Arturia Minimoog!!! I love this instrument!!! I will probably add imposcar when funds allow, but this is so thick... sounds better than Trilogy!

Absynth... choice between this and novation k station, i took this because it's got some freaky sounds... is tweakable, and they cut thru nicely...

Stylus... the only thing about it... lots of work to find a kick drum and a hi hat to play on the beats... sometimes i lust for an mpc3000 to compose drum parts on.... but.... where to get the money (and time to learn it)?

Trilogy... truly great synth...

fx... here's where i'm lacking... i used the ua audio card, which is difficult to use in logic pc, and not suitable for reverb... and i don't have cambridge, which i really like... so i used the CS1, which is fair.... i also used demo sonalksis eq, (too much...actually) nyquist eq (freebie), various logic fx, and simuanalog amp sim... another freebie...

more to come!

peaceout thanks for listening!!!

She's pretty hot. Killer voice. Seems like an all-around talented person. Speaking of talented, on to YOUR track:

-Production is crisp, and appropriate to the genre. Maybe a bit TOO much sizzle in the snare for my taste, but like I said, it's not really out of place.

-Composition is SMOKIN'... not just individual lines or melody, but the way it all gels together.

-At 1:17, I'd love to hear a different snare (it's about the snare again!) to complement the change in vibe that comes along with the keys.

-That's some funky guitar.

-Again at 2:05, I'd like to hear the drums change up a bit; however, I can understand why the distinctive snare might be kicking around in order to bring some cohesion to the track.

As mentioned, amazing voice on Sy.

I think even the people who thrive on obscure electronica will get some enjoyment out of this track. It's well worth a listen!

hey thats got plenty of good stuff going on - great vocals, very jazzy and loose ... hard to drop it into one genre which is also a good thing :)
