Motu carefully looked at Logic's stock instruments

I can't believe I'm stepping in as I am a big supporter of LPX, but I too very much respect DP.

They have been around since before emagic. 1994 or something crazy. If they took some ideas, fine. As I said on another thread, if I had extremely deep pockets, DP would be at the front of the line for my next DAW. However, I would not look forward to the learning curve (just as any good DP user would say the same in reverse.)

What MOTU should do, strategically, is package MachFive with DP for the same price. As is, Kontakt rules that roost, Logic has its own EXS24, Falcon has been released by UVI itself, and their Sampler is in a no-win situation. DP would be that much more attractive & affordable, and perhaps MachFive would get more support in the process, thereby turning the entire value prop on its head.

Yeah, What makes it so entertaining for me (mmv) is the irony of it. All we need to do is look on just about any modern workstation's forum and what you see are users regularly directly asking, if not begging, for companies to copy something from another product. Not only is it ok, users seem to be begging for it and are often enough disappointed when it doesn't happen.

As soon as anything has a major release (or with Bitwig two years before it released :)) there are people loudly, not in any subtle way, asking developers somewhere else to copy something from it. :hihi: Probably... 70+ % of features requests are asking to copy something else.

Sorry for laughing out loud though, I didn't mean to interrupt the thread.

It's not much of a subject anyway, just make the best of it ;)

No no, that certainly seems your prerogative.

It'd be interesting to see which other DAW making companies will carefully look at Alchemy in Logic now. :) I mean, they surely have a big argument at least for the Mac users to use their DAW now, at least if you're into that kind of thing. On topic, i don't get the fuss either. It'd be silly NOT to carefull look what the competition does. As long as you're not blatantly copying what the others do, which could also end in a plagiarism allegiation and a law suit, it's perfectly fine to do so, and as i said, it would be stupid not to do so, unless you want to get hopelessly outpaced.

Definitely nothing wrong with it. As said before, I did not blame Motu. Still rather remarkable the first 2 synths are 99% identical copies of the ones in Logic. And I think it is safe to say as I am a Logic user myself.

Every developer recreate something that another invented without exception (and thats great for the end user btw).
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Thanks Theo.

@OP, You have got to do better than that.

"Studio One copied Logic", "X Daw copied Z daw", etc, etc. MOTU maybe copied from somebody or not. Who actually cares
You because you replied.
This looks a lot like you admit you were trolling for reactions. With that in mind I don't think you're justified calling a reply "spam" or reporting another poster for "provocation." Insulting another poster's psychological state is certainly not justified.

You've got your answers. Thread locked.
