Maybe someone could clarify it for me, what was the last version of Alchemy?

I've downloaded everything when they were closing up, but now, it turned out I've got some kind of online installer (didn't even knew they went this way), which obviously doesn't work now. I used installer I backed up before Camel decided to close and it's working alright, but I wonder... I remember Alchemy used a kind of online activation and I think this have been removed, but I have no clue in which version. What I have is 1.55.0.3368.

I have .3366 on my mac... not sure what is on my PC.

I'm on Mac but downloaded all installers for both platforms before the website went down. DOWNLOAD LINK DELETED- I forgot Camel watermarks their plugins with my info.

You don't have to use the installer - you can open the Alchemy setup files in any program that opens RAR files and install them manually.

vimanaboy , makes me wonder why someone needs your installer , which should have watermarked your name .

Oh I hadn't thought of that- I forgot that's how Camel works. Hmm, ok going to delete the public link.

Yeah, I'm just looking for information about last available version number / online check protection removal version. I'm on Windows and not afraid to keep using.

One year anniversary for this thread, the forum was buzzing with rumours this time last year for sure

TheoM wrote:honestly if you are not a logic user and not on windows.. i wouldn't recommend sticking with alchemy, CS or CP.. it's not a case of IF, but WHEN an OSX update breaks it. You might have more luck with an OSX vst, even if the au doesn't validate you will probably be able to use the vst via patchworx for example. For a bit longer than the AU.

But it's just not worth the risk. Not one plugin that I have owned that got abandoned, most of them intel osx plugins, do not work on mavericks, yosemite, let alone El Cap. Heck, all my RND stuff didn't work properly on OSX 10.6 anymore.. it was a real hassle to update projects with replacements.

See once the au stops working, you wont be able to load and play a project as you saved it. I dunno, i'd just be cautious is all. On windows, if it works on 10 today, you probably won't have any problems in the next ten years even. it's not worth the hassle. Alchemy is a nice synth. but it's not *that* good. It's replaceable.

Imagine doing intricate patterns with camel space, and using camel phat all over a song on many tracks, and then you buy a new mac which HAS to use the latest os and they don't work.

I plan to keep my 2011 imac till it literally won't turn on anymore, but the fact is that that day WILL inevitably come..then i will be forced to use apple's latest OS. (grrr)

Exactly why I stay on Windows ..... I do like the sleek iPhones ,iPads , and Macbooks but man why do they have to break stuff with OSX and iOS updates so much. Hats off to Microsoft for backwards compatibility. :phones:

Yesterday I finally decided to launch Alchemy 1.5 after a long silence with it, and... it sounds amazing.
Still I don't understand why those Camel guys that had such a broad users number, decided to give this gem exclusively to the very limited Logic users base... Oh, I know, money... but what about music? What about the fantastic adventure to be the owner of your project and develope it and share it worldwide with an enthusiastic users community on your side creating music? I still do not understand them...

The whole deal is at least a bit strange. Maybe the Camel guys are die-hard Apple fanboyz

Or maybe they are still developing v2.0 or maybe another synth someday under a different company or just enjoy the money they made before and AFTER the deal.
Under window, Alchemy will live undisturbed for a long long time.
But under Apple's "executive orders".... only with Logic.

Yeah happy anniversary.

Would be interesting though to hear the story of how it all came about and how it went down.

Probably never happen tho because of the muzzle order.

OMG, when did this happen? :o

Why am I just hearing about this now?
