Hi All,

First and foremost a very happy and HEALTHY New Year to everyone.

My name is Desmond and I am a "real" newbie on this subject. So, what is my problem?

I purchased Studio One 3 Professional. (looks like my biggest error!)

My computer is:
iMac 5k late 2015
Op system - OSX el Capitan

I have a Midiscare 3 pro keys midi keyboard via usb plugged directly into my iMac.
Further a SC440 usb microphone from Thomann plugged directly into my iMac.
I am NOT using a separate audio interface.

Unfortunately my usb mic is not recognised by Studio One.
The mic works perfectly in Garageband, the app that comes with the OS X op system free of charge.

I have tried everything I know to integrate the usb mic into Studio One but it just doesn't work. The midi works perfectly in Studio One via usb.
As one can imagine I am really peeved at spending so much money on a product that cannot be used for voice recordings!

I contacted PreSonus and have never received an answer. All I have received are answers from members in the Studio One forum.
With all due respect to those who replied to my question they didn't help in the least. One suggested contacting the manufacturer of the mic and ask for a driver and or assistance. Another suggested using the Blue or whatever it was mic with ?????
I know those people wanted to help but I am convinced they did not understand my problem. :o

So, here I am with a very expensive piece of software that I cannot use. One cannot send it back so it looks like $300+ down the drain. :x The software looks very impressive but the service from Studio One is abysmal!
Perhaps I would have been better off purchasing Logic Pro X from Apple?

Has anyone any ideas?

Bye for now

Desmond

Just a thought (I dont own S1) but it may not like using different audio devices for input and output; Im thinking that if you're using your internal mac sound for output, it may be preventing you selecting the USB mic for input.

It might be worthwhile testing if an aggregate device will work; this is a 'virtual device'; which combines multiple real devices into one. If you create an aggregate device with the USB mic and the internal sound, that might work better.

If you cant add your USB mic to the aggregate device, something odd may be going on; it should work, but I notice the Thomann page only lists Logic and Garageband for compatibility. Could be it does something odd, ie its not a standard Core Audio (OSX's audio standard) device.
In other words, it may not be S1 that's the problem, but the mic.

WELL DONE whyterabbyt!

Thank you so much for the very valuable tip. IT WORKS!! I can now use my usb mic WITHOUT an audio interface.
Now, WHY couldn't Personus have come up with this suggestion?

Right, I'll spend the rest of the afternoon experimenting with "sounds".

I am extremely pleased with the result.

BTW, I can only assume you are like myself and use Apple products?

Good to hear.

Generally, no, actually, mostly PC based. I do some support of Mac-based ProTools systems at work (a college), though.
