Saukar30 wrote:Not to derail, but on St3 (or Miro2) is the round robin option in the edit section available for just the instrument that it's in (for instruments with different articulations) or is that a round robin for any instrument in a given MIDI channel?

BTW... I'm still going through all of the sounds from purchasing Total Studio 3, so I'm definitely not looking to upgrade as of yet.
Wanted to post this again to see if I get an answer. Perhaps it was missed, but I'm hoping to receive a little help from the Sampletank3 experts here.

As far as I know it is built into the individual instruments by the sounds designer. Not accessible by users.

I'm not sure what you mean.

What Darkstar states is basically correct, except, it is accessible by users on the edit page of an instrument, albeit, limited accessibilty, On or Off, and only for those parts that have been programmed by the sound designer. If an instrument has not been programmed with round robin the switch is default off and cannot be turned on, hence, no round robin.

If I understand correctly "in a given MIDI channel", you can assign up to 16 MIDI channels; however, what instrument you place on a channel may or may not have round robin samples.

And, TBH, of those with rr that I have tested, I can't tell a difference. But, to be fair, it has been few libraries where I can percieve a difference in the notes when rr is needed. Could be just my ear

Thanks guys. Answered my question!!

By MIDI channel, I meant if you loaded say 3 different instruments and changed all MIDI channels to channel 1. Then, would it be possible to use the round robin (to see if S3 used its 16 layer architecture can be used a little more exclusively). However that's not the case.

As far as telling a difference on round robin it really depends on your samples and how you play. Subtle changes might not heed drastic results sonically, but might influence how you play. This is coming more of the perspective of someone who plays what they program, versus the other way (program what you play).

Review on Bedroom Producers Blog is now up. I went into detail of what it sounds like and how it works, which will hopefully be informative and useful to those on the fence about buying it.

Post

Very nice article DS, and quite objective. Lots of useful information :tu:

Gave me some ideas about using Miro2 too.

Not sure I agree with the subjective "Miroslav Philharmonik 2 is a great sounding....." though ;)

Some of it is certaintly.

Cheers!

Thanks. I try to be informative in these things. And it's extra fun to review things which are controversial on KVR - also Martin France Drums - to see if the complaints had merit.

Post

Nice article that goes fairly in depth, thanks for doing the various reviews.

Nice article except the part where you say that it's also a 32-bit plugin.

We've added two audio demos from two talented folks, too, for those interested:

These sound excellent.

If you have a non-NFR/promo copy of Miroslav Philharmonik, the upgrade price is $199.99... The only place where your registration date matters is with regard to the bonus JamPoints. Hope that clarifies things, thank you.

Per the Miroslav Philharmonik 2 page:

Sorry, I obtained it through a license transfer, which was so long ago I had forgotten. So because I purchased the license second-hand, I am not eligible for the upgrade.

I don't think that is the case, you may want to check with support directly.

Ah, sorry... we'll get that fixed. I tested it in both 32-bit and 64-bit FL Studio but now I see that I missed that it uses a bridge under 32 bits.
