You know what's even more crazy?

There were huge articles about Lemmy in recent metal magazines over here in Germany (Metal Hammer IIRC), a couple of days later - Lemmy passes away.

Then I take a look at the most recent issue of Rolling Stone while I was browsing the newspapers at a store. The cover features Bowie, included is a huge article. A couple of weeks after the article went to print- Bowie passes away.

Both of them passed away mere 2-4 days post their last birthday (apparently, also Taiji Sawada - former bassist of X-Japan), both Kilmister and Bowie had cancer. This is slowly starting to show a certain pattern - even though it's a crazy coincidence.

More sad news. I grew up with David's music as a soundtrack to my school days. Low and Scary Monsters are still regular visitors to the HiFi system here, as are many of his earlier tracks.

I drank (infrequently) in the Three Tuns in Beckenham in the late '70s, about 5 years after Bowie stopped playing there. The pub closed down in 2003 and later became a restaurant.

RIP :(

"Generally, the more massive the star, the faster it burns up its fuel supply, and the shorter its life. The most massive stars can burn out and explode in a supernova after only a few million years of fusion."

"A supernova is a rare astronomical event that occurs during the last stellar evolutionary stages of a massive star's life, whose dramatic violent and catastrophic destruction is marked by one final titanic explosion."

He kicked down the doors of his day. He was kind and a class act. So much respect, reverence and love to you, David Bowie.

I am surprised how much this hurts, actually hurts. I've never felt this way about any death except family.

I am in awe of how he played things -- he gave no one any clue about his condition, so that when the album was released, he got straight-up, non-sentimental reviews of what he knew was his last project. By design or not, he lived to see the strong critical acclaim from the weekend, with some comparing this to his best work. (I agree). I hope this eased his passing.

What a being!

Let's hope Sony reissues and stops the profiteering.
