S/PDIF routing question

I have 2 s/pdif/audio hardware effects units.
If I wire them together with my pc in a series loop config,monitoring through my pc host will result in direct feedback.

This config can work if I monitor the effects output through a mixer.(suffering some lag latency going through the DAC`s)

I`d like to avoid going in/out through 2 sets of DAC`s,and use the s/pdif.

Has anyone come up with a workaround for this prob?
