Hi,

I could really use your help on an issue that bugs me to death right now. It has to do with Cubase and some strange midi events taking place. Ok here's my problem.

When I try to record something via my Radium 49 keyboard using a VSTi the first and maybe the second midi track quantize ok but then it's stop. For every other track I add, when I play on the keyboard each note is delayed. Let's say I would want a kick on 1 and a hit hat on 2 (yeah you know the normal house beat stuff) when I hit the hat on 2 on the keyboard, it also ends up on the same place as the kick.

I have been looking at different settings in Cubase but I just can't get it right. Can someone help me why this is happening and possible fixes?

Thanks,

Patrik

Are you using emulated ports? There is a midi timing bug in Cubase related to that.... sorry, I cannot point the reference but it is documented on cubase forums and steinberg site. The fix is simple.

No emulated ports... standard m-audio midi in... But I'll take a look at the Steinberg page anyway to see if I can find the bug fix. Maybe it's this after all. :)

It sounds to me like your quantize value is set to 1 or 2 when you more than likely need it on 16 or 32 etc. Try changing the value or turn auto quatize off alltogether. (You'll get a more live feel and it can easily be quantized later if needed.) If its a latency problem then you might be in need of an sound card upgrade.

thanks for your tips HotRock but I know how to use the quanrize function... Have been using cubase since late 80's even. :)

Nah it seems to be some m-audio problem. their later drivers for audiophile 24/96 sucks big time. It involves a lot of cracks and shit and trying to run a cubase asio setup is almost impossible. I looses the sync all the time but now I managed to find a friend who had the original cd with the original xp drivers (I bought my card prior to xp being launched so I didn't have them on my CD) and now all seems to be working ok.
