I think the soundtrack made that movie popular, not the other way round ;)

Otherwise I really worry about people in the 80's, that movie is a total turkey :D

It was before my time, my kind of movie was Beat Street

Well... he's right, prehistoric music is too post modern anyway. I wish I recorded the sound of the impending big bang. Now THAT was music!
His video about the mixtape phenomenon had me laughing too  (called bad internet rappers)

I don't know most of his records, I liked When Doves Cry. As to what do people even see in him:

Well, he seems to play the gittar with some authority.

Sure, I'll listen to anything. I just spent the last hour making that contact noise with my guitar cable into and out of the jack. I had that sucker loud too.

Neighbors called the cops.

The cops came.

I just turned it up.

I adore old school music! Everything from old Leonard Cohen, Kris Kirstofferson to Italo Disco. From Creedance Clearwater Revival to Depeche Mode and From Al green and Old Blue Eye Frankie Sinatra and 70'S funky Diksco to Billy Idol. I LIKE TALL SPEAKERS.. SMALL SPEAKERS cause I'm wired for sound... when it comes to oldskool music I love everything... its a "Mad World" Master Jack while he sang the Blues with Mr Bojangles..... But I do admit that my love for electronic music was sparked off with JMJ with rendevous 4 and Mike Oldfields Omadawn Vinyls.... mmmm Lets not forget the early 90s sampling e :D ra..where everything sampled with a 303 aaaciiid 8) baseline and a pumping 909 ruled for 18 months..... 18 months that made think.. Hey one day I can produce music ... and the proceeded to play concert for my teddy bears with my Casio HT 3000

do I occasionally feel nostalgic for some circa eighties Talking Heads or Human League or Beastie Boys ? . . . only a little bit. But it might take a little ganja for me to start pulling out the vinyls. Timex Social Club anyone . . . ? or a little Was/ not Was ?
fyi: I so wanted to have a mad & passionate affair with the tall blond in BananaRama back then ! Oh, baby

as mentioned several times above; every era - (seems like every year)has a couple of absolutely spectacular new artist's releases and a couple of very over-rated musical farts. Nothing here is remarkably different from the 1940s thru to the 20-teens. Both good music and BAD being thrown at the consumer almost daily

I often read how the 1970s were the "golden age" of musical innovation. I lived thru this era(as many of you did) and remember plenty of dreck(if I were a Brit or an Aussie, I would've just referred to it as "rubbish")

>lots of freaking great music and a lot of rubbish produced every year - key is to keep an open mind
expert only on what it feels like to be me

I miss alot of the music attitudes and styles and surprises of the late 80s and 90s.
About 50-70% of the music downloads and used CD's that I buy are from that time.

I hate EDM big room house and am eagerly waiting for it to die.
Whenever mainstream gets involved with Electronic stuff they create the factory produced watered down BS.
It's time for them to leave.

There are still some good modern contemporary electronic music artists, but you have to hunt for them a little bit.
A lot of people just don't know how to go about hunting for better music. You have to know how to use search engines effectively, which web forums to sign up for, and which service sites to go to like Rhapsody or Pandora or SHOUTcast.com or whatnot.
