I think Distorted Reality II and Twisted Textures are both superb. The majority of the stuff i wouldnt use, but its top notch work and very inspiring.
In terms of usability, i think House Essentials is decent. There are literally SOOO many sound on that disc that it has to good for something. Much of the stuff is a little mucky, but if you take the time to rip stuff out of the loops, it makes GREAT source material for new sounds.
Symphony of Voices is also a favorite, i find the basic choir sounds to be awesome for creating nice pads and textures.

refills for reason:
1. zero-g - creative essentials for reason
2. sonic reality - sonic refill
3. zero-g - total dance
generally i love almost everything from zero-g, spectrasonics and sonic reality. oh and spectrasonics trilogy, atmosphere and ik sampletank offer really a lot for the money, worth getting all of them.

reprznt, personally I would go for Reason; the free Elektromechanical refill is astonishing good quality considering it's free - it comprises of all the major EP's you'll need plus a nice hammond too. Both the Sub synth and Maelstrom are good for lead patches, and I'm sure people like Peff have sampled the Moog for the NNXT.
My personal sample CD favourites are 'Distorted Reality 2' - a really inspirational and very usable CD, and 'The Love and Pop String Thing' just for the whole 60's vibe, the progressions help to move ideas along too.

I'd think you'd get better results for Minimoog sounds with Arturia's softsynth version than a sample CD.reprznt wrote:what is a good sample cd for minimoog's and one for vintage electric pianos
thanks
As far as electric piano, the Reason Refill is a great value...because it's free (if you already own Reason), and what isn't a great value when it's free. As far as competing with a specialized sample library... not really.
I've heard great things about Scarbee's Rhodes and Wurly sample libraries. Less expensive than purchasing both of those you could get Lounge Lizard (again not a sample library but a VST instrument).

I guess it depends what style is wanted ...My favorite is 160dB: and 260dB: from AMG as a basic set for producing Drum&Bass.
btw: Both CDs (Audio) are on sale (50% off) in the moment
