Hmmm...I really think you got a point there! It can be pretty hard to judge the value of old gear. This could be it. Thanks mate. :tu:

Skippy Lehmkuhl says there's no clicking on his Minilogue.

I have never had any synth , including primitive VSTis, with clicking issues that couldn't be cured with a little work with attack and release times. There are settings where every synth will and should click and setting where they shouldn't. You may have to pay extra attention if you both have filter env as well as amp env going. At worst some synths may need a little more work than others. In the vid he is looking for clicks and finds them, but he actually also eliminates some of these with a little tweaking as far as I can hear.

Extremely fast envelopes like the Minilogue SHOULD be clicky at minimum attack and release times, though. :)

DC offset is the culprit, which is not a good thing.
Look at the scope.

I wrote the very same thing a couple of pages back, glad to see my brain is not the only one working that way :hihi:

^^^ @ Evil Dragon, exactly what I also though! ... the snappier the time and shape, if it doesn't click = then something might be wrong :D

DC offset problems? .. hmm I don't know but that sounds like something bad and I also did saw it on the scope with some videos.

anyway, question about the filter character: What other synths would have similar character to the Minilogue?

A scary thought, isn't it :hihi:

Maybe it is a kick drum machine

little trouble? :scared:
seriously?? lol. some synth dork who only buys synths so he can compare them to each other is always going to find something to gripe about. I skipped around the video and I didn't hear anything alarming.

I mean, the reality is that I've listened to 50 demo's and never heard anything to be worried about. maybe he got a bad unit?

She ate it :wheee: Now I can buy it for a start. I almost can't believe it went that easy (had to promise her a weekend trip to Berlin this spring, though). And I can wait at least a month to tell her that the JP8000 couldn't finance it all...though sooner or later it has to be done :scared:

Anyone got an idea about why Thomann list it as Korg "Pro" minilogue?
Are they so sloppy with this that they do not even bother to get the name right or are they trying to imply there are two version and their is the better?

Post

Cool beans! I think as long as you make an honest effort you should be fine.

As for Thomann... looking at that right now. Hm. I suppose they are that sloppy. I mean, what they're showing definitely looks like the same thing that we've been seeing all over the place. Most likely just rushing something to get the web page posted?

A pro version with more polyphony and other goodies would be a nice thing. Even if it were double the price it would still be much cheaper then e.g. the Prophet6. We would find out soon enough since the show is tomorrow. (Thursday)

Personally I'm happy with what we've seen so far. The price is within reach and I don't have to feel quilty about something super extravagant. I also like the design and small format keys. I'm comfortable with that kind of keyboard and I like that it won't take up a huge amount of space, etc. In other words (except for the clicking thing) it seems perfect. Looking forward to checking one out in person instead of watching everyone else have all the fun on youtube.

Thomann seems to have two manufacturer entries for Korg: "Korg" and "Korg pro". Weird. :D
