It looks like Roland will be concentrating on the System-500 modular at NAMM. There's also a USB controller keyboard to hook up to it with CV/Gate, step-sequencer and...mini keys!

Just got the email from Roland and was checking out the video re the System 500. This looks really great! Designed by Malleko. Anybody know the pricing?

Here's a link to that video:

It was SO obvious that this "rumour" is just somebody's electronic wet dream. There are quite a few teenager-brain-Gearslutz with a midlife crisis nagging about stuff like this.

"Heyz,why don't Roland give me a newJupeter8 for 50bucks.They sucksLOL."

JRR Shop has listed them, $350 a piece if memory serves me well.

~$350 for just one of the modules. I don't see the 'Complete' system listed just yet. $350 for that would indeed be exceptional. I'm guessing closer to $1k and even that is probably a bit low. After all the complete system has five of those $350 modules, which would make it $1750 if purchased separately. For that kind of money you could get three Mother32's or a nice selection of individual Eurorack modules from various designers, including Malleko.

So for the Complete system (since they are marketing it as 'affordable') they probably throw in the case and power supply. It looks pretty nice, but I'm sticking with Moog for now. :)

I figured that Saturn 6 spec list for that price had to be just a rumor, when you consider what it cost DSI/Sequential to "do it right" with the P6 (which is itself kind of a bargain, given that it costs 1/4th or 1/5th as much as a P5 did when you compensate for inflation).

In Eurorack-land that isn't too bad. Personally I would mix and match anyway.
You know, the complete system would be attractive as a startersystem if they would've made the case twice as big, so there would be room for expansion. The way it is now it kind of defeats one of the more exciting features of eurorack - the expandable nature.
It's weird that many starter systems suffer from this phenomenona.

To be fair, you could take four — or even eight of these $2000 System 500 completes and have yourself a polyphonic for $16000 (actually, since the VCFs are dual VCFs and the VCAs are dual VCAs, I only need four of the systems and four extra dual VCOs to have eight voices of dual VCO polyphony for only $9400). I am sure Roland shareholders would love to see people do that to build up polyphonic systems. It still costs less than a Schmidt.
