Meanwhile I sent a crash report to UVI, I reinstalled my audio driver and had to delve into the register to get rid of the compatibility issues.
I decided to try standalone mode so as to spare cubase and I discovered I seem to be able to do anything - load oscillators, browse devices etc etc, except soundbanks. When I click that, Falcon crashes and Win gives me a popup stating Falcon has to run in compatibility mode> When I try to start it up again...nada.
This means back into the register for me, but at least it may add to clarify what's been going on.
Once that's done, I can load Falcon Air and/or create things myself. But the soundbanks are taboo for now.

I have one soundbank installed. Works fine here on Mac/El Capitan/Logic Pro X/ Live 9.5
EDIT: I'll check later. The soundbanks in the right-hand browser work fine for me. Don't know about the left hand browser.

But yes, I can click on it, nothing happens as there is nothing installed but it doesn't crash.Sampleconstruct wrote:I have no Soundbanks installed, so I never used that button before, let me check.woodsdenis wrote:Can you click on the Soundbanks triangle in the left hand browser without crashing Simon ?Sampleconstruct wrote:Yes, running fine here on Mac/Yosemite/Logic, standalone and plugin version.MikeCallon wrote:Can anybody report they have a working 1.06 as yet - the only posts here seem to be negative - anybody successfully running 1.06 ?

I can confirm that clicking the Soundbanks twisty in the right-side panel of Falcon v1.0.6 stand-alone version (on Windows 10 Pro x64) crashes Falcon:

However, I am able to load soundbanks using the left-side panel/center panel combo (the Soundbanks twisty in the center panel works fine):

Deleting the settings file located at C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\UVI\Falcon and letting Falcon recreate it did not have any effect on mitigating the error, so the crashing is probably not due to incompatibility of saved settings between versions.
I have not tested running Falcon v1.0.6 as a VSTi yet.
UPDATE: Tested Falcon v1.0.6 as a VSTi and it too crashes when I click the Soundbanks twisty in the right-side panel.

OK so either MOTU are doing some shady advertising or MachFive isn't dead. notice the similarity in the Motu page for their "Instruments" talk tomorrow! For fun, my bet is MOTU and UVI decided to embed MachFive and allow UVI to release Falcon as a separate entity.

Compare to MachFive 3

Maybe they just didn't update that waveform picture as of yet, but to suspect a new/old MachFive from that image is a bit much, no? I'm certain that M5 is as dead as a dead horse can be.machinesworking wrote:OK so either MOTU are doing some shady advertising or MachFive isn't dead. notice the similarity in the Motu page for their "Instruments" talk tomorrow! I can confirm the Crash-to-desktop when clicking on the soundbank triangle on Windows 8.1 x64.
Cheers,
Tom
Edit: It seems to have to do with what's installed. Right after opening Falcon Standalone there are not all soundbanks visible yet. I can open the soundbank triangle thing then and see the first three banks.
But while Falcon is loading more soundbanks, at one point it crashes.
BTW. The following behaviour is a bit annoying: if you load Falcon and directly dive into one of your user folders several layers deep, Falcon is resetting that view to "all folders closed" when it's finished scanning soundbanks, even if you aren't in any of the soundbank folders. So you have to dig down from start once again...

That's a whole new page dedicated to NAMM tomorrow, its not an old page, it's only been up for a few days. None of their other instruments use that waveform display and sample staking graphic. I don't think MOTU would use a .jpg of MachFives waveform and sample stacking if they didn't have a reason to? I suppose it's possible, but so is MOTU and UVI deciding to embed MachFive into DP directly not unlike how AAS does this with Ableton Live.Sampleconstruct wrote:Maybe they just didn't update that waveform picture as of yet, but to suspect a new/old MachFive from that image is a bit much, no? You're probably more in touch with UVI than anyone I see online so I suppose if you say UVI are done with MOTU, it's always possible MOTU are making their own Sampler, or some web developer that works there wasn't informed?? In any case I'm paying attention to their NAMM announcements.

I have no internas to share really, I just test their software and occasionally make sounds for UVI, I have no idea of their relationship with MOTU and I don't want to know eithermachinesworking wrote:That's a whole new page dedicated to NAMM tomorrow, its not an old page, it's only been up for a few days. So my post was mere speculation/assumption, just like yours...
