Hey guys.
Been looking to get a card for my homestudio with 8 analog i/o.
Has anyone had any experience with any of these 2?
I know the MOTU is slightly more equipped (2 extra ADAT's, could be nice for future expanding).
I'd like to know solid info based on your experience in:
1. Latency wise - which one works better?
2. Quality wise
3. General Computer Stability (if anyone had any problems with any of these cards, and ASIO Drivers).
Any info would be a great help!

Hello, Are you using a PC or Mac? from posts I've read and advice from a local music shop the MOTU can be troublesome (at first maybe) setting up on a pc--honestly though that may be old news---MOTU has a reputation of being a Mac product first ...as far as build quality the RME is like a tank...the MOTU is a little on the "plastic" side...I think for converters
The RME might be a bit better-(important stuff)...
Latency? probably pretty equal?
With all that you'd probably be happy with either choice.
Do check input level amounts maybe the RME will accept a hotter level--to me a sign that one bit of gear is more of a "pro" product..Peace...

I am running a PC system.
ASUS P4S800-D
Intel P4 3.0 Ghz
512 MB Ram
120 GB Western-digital S-ATA drive
Cubase SX 2.0
I was concerned about the MOTU Behaviour in this system, as far as the ASIO drivers,latency,and all that.

i have been running a MOT PCI324 with the 2408 interface on the PC. Along with the Tascam DM24. Linked via TDIF. This is an oldish card.
one issue im having is getting the DM24 to be the word clock master. I have to reset it everytime in the MOTU control pannel. Though having the MOTU as the word clock master is no problem.
Also using non ASIO softwares (such as the media player and all) is a pain. Initially i was getting all clicks and stuff. Now it runs ok. The funny part is if i have the buffer setting in the MOTU control pannel anything over 256. Media player and all (wavelab, non asio etc..) will play with all crackles and cliks.
This is not a card that works out of the box. I have also read bout ppl having issues with the 424 on the PC.
Look at the Emu 1820m too.

My Multiface is the best soundcard I've ever used. Very low latency, great sounding converters, never a stability issue, ever. I'm thinking of getting "RME4LYFE" tattooed on my 6-pack abs.
