Recording iPad audio via line in PC too much bass

I'm recording sounds and music from Soundprism and a few others I've bought on the iPad (none can share audio to other apps or save digital files). I'm doing this via the headphone and line in to my audiophile 2496 sound card.
All works fine, except there is just too much bass coming in and getting lots of low rumbling sounds. I'm using Cantabile to record the audio and putting various plugins to try and reduce the low bass and tonal rumbling, but none seems to work. The closest was dynamic frequency limiter, but that adds other artefacts.
Can anyone help me sort this problem out?

Hi, thanks, unfortunately the apps aren't compatible with those.

Yeah thanks, the others are the Intermorphic apps scape etc.
I can't understand why an equaliser on the line input isn't dropping the bass.

Just wanting to bump this thread, to ask what the best budget way to record audio from an iPad to a PC is? I've tried via the direct cable and the sound is getting distorted. I've tried airserver which is a good way, but quality drops sometimes and it loses network signal.
Nothing too fancy, just a cheapish way to record any audio from the iPad to the PC so I can use the audio in a DAW.

Just turn the volume down should do the trick... But in my experience you have to crank headphone volume of an iPhone up all the way to get a decent line level for recordings. Aren't you going into a mic input instead of line? 3.5mm inputs on most laptops is meant for mic, not line (and hence in mono, not stereo)bookofthoth wrote:I've tried via the direct cable and the sound is getting distorted.

Maybe something like musicIO or studiomux would work for you? Buy the iOS app and download the free server app for Windows. The audio is sent over USB rather than wifi.
On Macs with 10.11 you can now connect to iPads via Audio/MIDI Setup and stream the audio over USB by setting the input channel to the iPad. I don't know if anyone has written a Windows tool that can do this.

I was going to line in on the old set up (audiophile 2496). I haven't tried on the new PC to get a line in, but that's a really good point about the mic in. There is a line in option though on this PC. I think it's going to have to be via a usb or something, those apps look promising, but I'm worried in case they don't work with the apps I have on the iPad which don't use audiobus.
I'm going to look into it some more, but thanks for the suggestions

A hardware solution would be to use a class-compliant USB audio interface and feed the output from that into the Audiophile. Behringer do cheap ones like the UCA202 which have RCA and optical outputs. They're limited to 48KHz sample rate.
You'll need an adapter to be able to connect USB devices (CCK if 30-pin or the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter). You should get cleaner audio out by using USB rather than through the headphone jack.

I tried the studiomux method, and it works great but my apps aren't compatible. Some are though and the sound quality on those is fab. I used the standard usb lightning cable.
I probably will have to go the hardware route UCA202, which is a shame really given it's two digital devices that can't share data. Thanks for the suggestion of the Behringer.

Just a follow up, I bought a UAC 222 and am very happy with it indeed, fits the bill perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion

I highly recommend an interface from iConnectivity. Its made the iPad an actually useful musical instrument with my DAW!
