Chords, scales, harmony, melody, etc.

I'm talking about the filtered chord sweep before the drop (at 1:00 - 1:30 and 2:30 - 3:15) it might be kind of hard to hear especially when the lead sound comes in

it sounds like ebmin, bbmin, dbmaj to me but that last chord has me stumped any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Really? That's strange. Well here's another link to the same song, this version is shorter so the progression I am talking about starts at 0:00 - 0:25 and also at 1:25 - 2:10.

It is the filtered chord sound that slowly opens as it builds up to the drop!

hmm.. if it's the part I think you're talking about.. it's not actually a chord, it's just two notes played at a time which is technically an interval.

the notes are:

Gb Bb
F Bb
F Ab
Eb Gb

you should strive to be able to figure this stuff out by ear. This example is really that hard. You can do it! get the keyboard out and mess around till you figure it out next time ;) you're ear will develop better that way

Thanks for the response man! I tried these notes out and they still just don't seem right maybe it's the synth sound that he's using in the song that gives it a different tone but I know for sure that the bass notes of the progression are

D#
A#
C#
G#

because if you look at it in a spectrum analyzer (or any EQ) you can see these notes playing the bassline (which is why I assumed they were chords).

Maybe it's because I've been playing this with just saw waves but his sounds higher almost like a choir sound is mixed in there.

I don't mean to come off as ungrateful, it's just driving me nuts because I can't figure out why his sounds so different!

Rather than list the chords/inversions, I will make it easy and post a pic. :)

Though the section you're referring to is so filtered, it is hard to tell if he's playing triads or dyads. Mess with the filter cutoff, and it should sound pretty close either way.
