Bass question?

Hello, I am pretty new to Producing music and I have a simple question. From what frequency's upper frequency does your bass not become a bass? For example past 300hz does your bass sound exceed that "bass" region. so if I'm making a bass patch on my synth I know when to stop the low pass filter. Thanks!

Its really a personal preference from my understanding. The way i was taught was to go with what sounded right to you and your project at the time. Mostly I stick around the 250-300z region, but it can widely vary from track to track.

Far as I've deduced, it does depend on whether you're doing acoustic or electric bass, but generally there tends to not be anything going on with basses above 500Hz. So as long as you stay below that line, you're good.
