Luckily I've already thought of this use case! Try using one of the envelopes in LAG mode and trigger it from velocity. This allows for a different smoothing time for upwards and downward transitions by using the attack and release. Set the attack and release to the lowest setting for instant steps. The best thing with this way is that you can change the sound of the sequence with the SENS knob, and also adjust the attack and release times to create loads of different variations easily.bellymcr wrote:Hi Andy, I've been having a lot of fun sending MIDI from the M4L Step sequencer to The Drop to trigger the envelopes. However, if I want to modulate the cut off frequency with MIDI note velocity, I have to send it via Silent Way to the FM control. It still works great and seems to be really tight, but it'd be neater if The Drop could handle MIDI velocity directly. I could then have everything self contained in one track.
Cheers for a spectacular plug in!

Any news on a VST3 version? I'd love to be able to use the SC on it, and can't be bothered with the cumbersome workaround that is needed in Cubase to send SC to VST2.4 plugins.

I'm working on the VST3 version right now, hopefully it will make in this update.barryfell wrote:Any news on a VST3 version? I'd love to be able to use the SC on it, and can't be bothered with the cumbersome workaround that is needed in Cubase to send SC to VST2.4 plugins.

Things are going great, but still no update to release just yet. Back in the office working after a little break over the x-mas and new year period, looking at adding one new filter model to the next release if possible.etherdesign wrote:How's it going?

In addition to the ones you mentioned previously in the thread? Oh man, really looking forward to it. I've always loved and wanted an ARP Odyssey and the mk I filter sounds so nice.

Yep, there is another filter circuit I've been working on - can't say what yet since I'm still working on it. I want to get it in there if possible since otherwise it will mess up the order of the filters twice, and I want as little disruption as possible for peoples projects (which is only an issue if people have automated the filter circuit, which should be pretty rare as it pops a little when switching between them).etherdesign wrote:In addition to the ones you mentioned previously in the thread? I've finished the new circuit model I've been working on - took a bit longer than expected (as usual) but I'm very happy with the results. Any filter aficionados (or anyone else that is game!) want to have a guess which filter it is from the following audio example?

Note that the intermittent warbly type growling sound happens before self oscillation, but won't happen without audio input of the right level to interfere with the resonance (which is exactly like the analog filter I built but unlike some other models I've heard of this filter).
(PS: recorded live at x2 oversampling of 44100, using Ableton Live's arpeggiator and Operator as the sawtooth audio source but with its filter bypassed).

I'm no expert but from the growly sound it really sounds like the samples from a Korg MS-10 that I've heard before, which I've always loved the filter sound of. Everyone raves about the MS-20 filter but I think the MS-10 filter had loads of character.

You're right, it has got loads of character and distorts a lot, but the MS-10 filter is the same as the MS-20 mk1 filter so is already in The Drop as "MS1".etherdesign wrote:I'm no expert but from the growly sound it really sounds like the samples from a Korg MS-10 that I've heard before, which I've always loved the filter sound of. Oh I always thought they were different, to me the MS-10 filter has a bit more of a vocally nasal sound with certain material, that I haven't quite been able to replicate, but maybe that's just because I don't also have MS-10 oscillators.

That sounds like a quite dirty and somewhat unstable filter. Steiner-Parker?
